The Crusader Propane 450mm Pigtail with HRP connects your LPG cylinder to your caravan or motorhome regulator via a 450mm gas hose. POL fitting cylinders like Calor and Flogas connect to the pigtail, which then screws into your regulator's W20 fitting. The key safety feature is the Hose Rupture Protection nut, which automatically closes if the hose ruptures, stopping gas flow and preventing leaks.

Caravan owners, motorhomers, and campers use these pigtails to feed gas to cookers, heaters, fridges, and water heating systems. The 450mm length suits most standard setups where your cylinder sits under the caravan chassis or in an external locker. It's flexible enough to avoid kinks and install without strain, whilst remaining tough enough for constant travel and varying outdoor temperatures.

The hose and fittings resist weather and temperature changes, so the pigtail performs reliably across different seasons and climates. Installation doesn't require specialist tools, as hand-tight connections make it straightforward to attach to your regulator and cylinder. The main consideration is length, as the 450mm size works for most fixed caravan gas setups, though you'll want to measure your specific layout if you need extended reach between cylinder and regulator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hose Rupture Protection and why do I need it?
Hose Rupture Protection is a safety valve fitted in the connection nut that automatically closes if the hose ruptures or detaches. This stops gas flowing from your cylinder, preventing dangerous leaks during travel or if the hose gets damaged by wear, vibration, or accidental impact. It's a standard safety feature on modern caravan gas systems.
Will this pigtail fit my gas cylinder?
This pigtail has a POL fitting, which fits the valve on Calor and Flogas propane cylinders commonly used in the UK. The W20 end screws into your caravan regulator. If your cylinder valve looks different or your regulator has a different connection type, check your documentation before ordering as some older systems use different fittings.
Is 450mm long enough for my caravan?
The 450mm length works for most caravans where the cylinder sits in an external locker or under the chassis with the regulator mounted nearby. Measure the distance from your cylinder valve to where your regulator mounts. If your setup requires more than 450mm of hose, a longer pigtail may be needed.
How do I install the pigtail?
Turn off gas at the cylinder, then screw the POL end onto your cylinder valve hand-tight. Screw the W20 end into your regulator hand-tight. Don't use spanners unless connection leaks, as over-tightening can damage the fittings. Once installed, test for leaks using soapy water and check that the hose runs without kinks or sharp bends.
How often should I replace my pigtail?
Replace your pigtail every two years or sooner if you notice cracks, hardening, leaks, or damage. UV exposure, temperature changes, and pressure cycling degrade hose materials over time. Caravans that travel frequently and experience variable weather conditions benefit from regular replacement as part of routine gas system maintenance.
