This Cadac LP propane regulator connects to standard POL cylinder valves found on Calor 6kg, 19kg, and 47kg bottles, plus Calor Lite 6kg and Flo gas cylinders from 3.9kg up to 19kg. The UK Male POL (105) 5/8" left-hand thread fits these bottles directly, delivering gas at the standard 37mbar pressure required for outdoor cooking appliances. What sets this regulator apart is the factory-fitted 85cm hose that's crimped rather than jubilee-clipped, which means no weak points where connections typically fail over time.

The quick release fitting saves you from manually shutting off gas at the cylinder every time you finish cooking. When you disconnect the QR fitting from your barbecue, it stops gas flow automatically. The built-in Excess Flow Valve monitors gas movement through the hose and cuts supply by 90% if something goes wrong, like if the hose gets damaged or develops a split whilst you're cooking. This isn't an optional extra you pay more for - it's factory fitted to every unit.

One consideration is the hose length. At 85cm, you'll need to position your gas bottle reasonably close to where you're cooking, which might be awkward if you're trying to keep cylinders away from heat sources. The handwheel on the regulator tightens onto the POL valve without needing a spanner, though you'll still want to check it's properly seated before each use. This regulator suits anyone using propane bottles with UK standard POL valves for camping, caravanning, or garden cooking with Cadac equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What gas cylinders work with this Cadac POL regulator?
This regulator fits UK standard POL valve cylinders including Calor propane bottles in 6kg, 19kg and 47kg sizes, Calor Lite 6kg bottles, and Flo gas cylinders from 3.9kg through to 19kg. The POL connection is the traditional screw-on fitting with a left-hand thread that's been standard on UK propane bottles for decades. It won't fit patio gas bottles which use the clip-on 27mm regulator system.
How does the Excess Flow Valve safety feature work?
The EFV sits inside the regulator body and monitors gas flow rate through the hose. If the hose gets cut, damaged or comes loose whilst the gas is on, the sudden increase in flow rate triggers the valve to restrict supply by 90%. This gives you time to reach the cylinder and turn it off properly rather than having gas pouring out unrestricted. The EFV resets automatically when you turn the gas back on normally.
Why is the hose crimped instead of using jubilee clips?
Crimped hose connections compress the rubber onto the metal fitting using a permanent metal sleeve that can't work loose over time. Jubilee clips need regular checking and tightening because vibration and temperature changes cause them to loosen. Cadac factory-crimps both ends of the 85cm hose during manufacture, which means the connections are permanent and tested before leaving the factory. You can't remove or replace the hose without cutting it.
Do I need a spanner to fit this regulator to my gas bottle?
No, the regulator has a large handwheel built onto the POL nut that you turn by hand to tighten it onto the cylinder valve. Turn it clockwise (remembering it's a left-hand thread so opposite to normal) until it feels snug. Don't overtighten it or you'll damage the seal. The handwheel gives enough leverage for a proper gas-tight seal without needing tools. Some people still prefer using a spanner for extra peace of mind but it's not required.
What does the quick release fitting do?
The QR fitting on the end of the hose connects to your Cadac BBQ and stops gas flow automatically when you disconnect it. Press the collar on the fitting, pull it off the BBQ connection, and gas stops flowing even if the cylinder valve is still open. This means you don't have to walk back to the gas bottle and turn it off every time you finish cooking. When you reconnect it, push the fitting on until you hear it click and gas flows again.
Is 85cm of hose long enough for camping and caravanning?
The 85cm length works fine when your gas bottle sits directly next to where you're cooking, which is typical for portable BBQ setups on camping trips. For caravan installations where the gas locker is built into the van and you're cooking outside, 85cm might be too short depending on your layout. You'll need to measure from your gas locker to where the BBQ sits. The hose can't be extended because it's crimped at both ends.
What pressure does this regulator deliver?
This regulator outputs 37mbar, which is the standard pressure for propane appliances in the UK including portable BBQs, camping stoves and outdoor heaters. The cylinder pressure inside a propane bottle varies with temperature but this regulator reduces it to a constant 37mbar regardless of how full the bottle is or how hot the day is. Don't use this regulator with butane cylinders or appliances designed for different pressures.
