View description
The Robens Roamer 2 LW is a lightweight 2 man tunnel tent for backpackers and trekkers who carry their shelter on their back. It weighs 2.29kg and packs away to 47 x 17cm, keeping the load manageable over long days on the trail. Short pole parts fit into panniers and rucksacks next to the rest of your kit.

The HydroTex SilPoly RS flysheet withstands sagging and absorbs far less water than nylon, so it remains light and tight in the rain. The flysheet has a 2,000mm hydrostatic head with taped seams, and the 20D nylon ripstop inner tent floor takes the waterproofing to 5,000mm. Two DAC Pressfit 9mm anodised aluminium poles hold the tunnel shape, and Robens rates the tent to 126 km/h in wind tests.

FlexPitch offers three pitching choices: flysheet only, inner only or both together. The mesh inner keeps air moving and bugs out, while fly toggles at the front and back open up for views and ventilation. A porch provides room for covered cooking while sitting within the inner tent, or for stowing equipment out of the way. The adjustable Low Vent system and a two-way zip at the door top let you fine-tune airflow, and reflective trims on the vent cover help you find the tent after dark. Inside, there are mesh stowage pockets, a lantern hanging point and an equipment rope, with a flysheet repair patch provided.

Couples or a trio who require room for three sleeping bags pick the Roamer 3 LW, the wider tent in the collection. The Roamer 2 LW is for a solo trekker or a pair travelling quick and light, saving 300g in the pack while keeping the same DAC poles, FlexPitch system and 5,000mm floor.

Is the Robens Roamer 2 LW light enough for backpacking?

At 2.29kg with a 47 x 17cm pack size, the Roamer 2 LW sits among the lighter 2 man tents on the trail. Its DAC Pressfit 9mm poles and HydroTex SilPoly RS flysheet keep the weight low without giving up weatherproofing, and the short pole parts fit into panniers and backpacks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Robens Roamer 2 LW?
It measures 390 x 140 x 110cm pitched and packs to 47 x 17cm. The total weight is 2.29kg, with a minimum weight of 2,130g without instructions, repair kit and carry bags.
Should I choose the Roamer 2 LW or the Roamer 3 LW?
Solo trekkers and pairs happy with 140cm of sleeping width go for the Roamer 2 LW at 2.29kg. The Roamer 3 LW sleeps three, spreads 180cm wide at 2.59kg and gives 115cm of headroom against the 2's 110cm. Both share the same DAC Pressfit poles, HydroTex SilPoly RS flysheet and FlexPitch system.
Is the Robens Roamer 2 LW waterproof?
The flysheet is HydroTex SilPoly RS with a 2,000mm hydrostatic head and taped seams. The inner tent floor is 20D nylon ripstop rated to 5,000mm. HydroTex SilPoly absorbs less water than nylon, so the flysheet stays light and taut in wet weather. Robens uses PFAS-free water repellency.
How does FlexPitch work on the Roamer 2 LW?
FlexPitch lets you pitch the flysheet on its own for a quick shelter, the mesh inner on its own in warm dry conditions, or both together for full protection. The tent pitches flysheet first or as one with the inner attached.
What poles does the Robens Roamer 2 LW use?
Two DAC Pressfit 9mm anodised aluminium poles, weighing 580g between them. Robens has wind-tested the Roamer 2 LW to 126 km/h. Short pole sections fit neatly into panniers and backpacks.
Is there a porch on the Robens Roamer 2 LW?
Yes. A porch sits in front of the inner tent and gives sheltered space for cooking or storing gear. Fly toggles at the front and back open it up for views and airflow.
How is the Roamer 2 LW ventilated?
Through the mesh inner, fly toggles at the front and back, a two-way zip at the door top and an adjustable Low Vent system. These give you several ways to manage airflow in changing conditions.
What comes with the Robens Roamer 2 LW?
A flysheet fabric repair patch, gear rope, inner tent mesh storage pockets and a lantern hanging point are part of the setup. Pegs and a carry bag are also included.

Hydrostatic Head (mm)2000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialRipstop PolyesterMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Persons2Tent berth indicates how many people your tent can accommodate for sleeping. The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
Pole constructionAluminiumThis is whether the poles are inflatable (air) or rigid (e.g - fibreglass / steel or aluminium).
Porch AreaNoA porch area gives campers a lot of extra room, that can be used as a wet zone (drying off before entering the main living space), storage of all your outside gear overnight, or as a place to cook and dine or a great area for your family dog to sleep. It adds a lot of versatility to your camping lifestyle.
Weight (kg)2.30This is the weight of the tent in kg.
Wing AreaNoAn additional wing area can be very useful as it can be used as an extra bedroom area, storage of toys and camping equipment or as a place to put a comfy inflatable sofa, so you can sit back and read your favourite book. Alternatively, it is an ideal spot for the family dog to sleep.
