Question

A Remistar rooflight is fitted over the Lounge of my motorhome. The electric motor will open the roof normally (jumping a notch at times), but when trying to close, the closing is very slow (to stop), accompanied by a "jump" noise (like missing a gear notch). I have had to close the rooflight using the winder handle on more than one occasion. Is this likely to be a failing motor (which opens ok !) or is it more likely to be the gearbox or the driving mechanism failing ? Your advice would be appreciated so i may buy the appropriate replacement parts from you..

Answer

It is rare for the motors to fail but the alloy gears are prone to failure. These parts come in a kit, our ref. 148619.
