Question

I have a new van with a trumatic s5002 heater that appears never to have been used. I have tried to start it using the ignition button but it wont fire up. Am i doing anything wrong? no instructions came with it.

If you have a manual ignition version you have a larger knob which you must depress whilst operating the smaller piezo ignition button. It is more likely that you have a fire with automatic ignition and you need an AA battery to operate the igniter. The front cover must be removed to access the igniter which will be on the base of the fire. The igniter accommodates the battery underneath a sliding flap.
When you have installed a new battery you should hear the igniter clicking when you depress the larger knob. Make sure that the gas tap that isolates the fire is turned on.
