Caravan & motorhome technical questions

Question

I recently had an accident with a height barrier and destroyed the flue on the roof of my caravan. I have recently purchased a new flue from you to replace the broken one. On fitting the new flue I had to trim back the silver internal flue and it is now approx.15mm short of the lip inside the new unit. Is there any way I can extend the flue or seal the slight gap between the flue and the new fitting.

Answer

It is important that there is no gap in the flue as this could introduce flue gases into your vehicle. It is best to have a 'Gas Safe' engineer look at it as he may be able to apply some high temperature sealant if applicable. Otherwise you may have to replace the flue pipe from the fire to the flue terminal. In either case you must have a competent person check the installation with a gas flue analyser.
