The Thule Elite Van XT 302067 provides Ford Transit H3 owners (2014 onwards) with a reliable two-bike carrier that fits twin rear doors without drilling into your van's bodywork. Designed specifically for the H3 high-roof variant, this black bike rack uses a clamp and adhesive rail system that keeps your vehicle warranty intact whilst delivering the same load security as permanent installations. The 35kg total capacity handles two standard bikes up to 19kg each, with 20cm spacing between bikes preventing contact during transport.

The rack clamps onto aluminium rails that you bond to your Transit's rear doors using automotive adhesive like Sikaflex. Installation takes 60-90 minutes with no drilling needed. The rails are 130cm wide and the adjustable wheel holders extend up to 1270mm wheelbase, accommodating most adult bikes whilst allowing both rear doors to open fully with bikes loaded.

The AcuTight torque limiter system removes the guesswork from securing your bikes. These lockable knobs click when the correct tension is reached, preventing over-tightening that might damage carbon frames whilst ensuring bikes stay firmly attached. The pump-buckle wheel holders adjust quickly between different tyre sizes up to 2.75 inches wide, and the detachable bike arms fold away for compact storage when you remove the 9.5kg rack at the season's end. All mounting hardware is included except the adhesive sealant, which you'll need to purchase separately for bonding the rails.

The rack isn't suitable for electric bikes due to their weight exceeding the 19kg per-bike limit. Thule's warranty covers manufacturing defects, giving you confidence in this Polish-made product that's been engineered specifically for Transit H3 dimensions. The black finish suits conversions with darker colour schemes, blending with most aftermarket bumpers and rear accessories.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the Thule Elite Van XT 302067 fit my Ford Transit if it's not H3 height?
No, this specific model 302067 is engineered exclusively for Ford Transit H3 high-roof variants from 2014 onwards. The rail positioning and door clearance measurements are calibrated for H3 dimensions. If you have an H2 medium roof or H1 low roof Transit, you'll need a different Thule model or alternative bike carrier designed for those heights. The H3 designation refers to vans with a roof height of approximately 2750mm.
What type of adhesive do I need to bond the rails to my Transit doors?
You need automotive-grade polyurethane adhesive sealant such as Sikaflex 252 or similar products designed for exterior vehicle bonding. The adhesive isn't included with the rack because it has a limited shelf life. Apply it to the back of the aluminium rails after cleaning the door surface thoroughly with a degreaser. The adhesive needs 24-48 hours to cure fully before loading bikes, so factor this into your installation timeline.
Can I open my Transit's rear doors with bikes mounted on the Elite Van XT?
Yes, both rear doors open fully with bikes loaded on the Thule Elite Van XT. The rack's design positions bikes far enough from the door hinges to allow unrestricted access to your van's interior. This is particularly helpful when you need to grab gear from inside whilst bikes are mounted. The 130cm width and 20cm bike spacing have been calculated to maintain door functionality on Transit twin door configurations.
Why can't I carry electric bikes on the Thule Elite Van XT?
Electric bikes typically weigh between 20-30kg, exceeding the Elite Van XT's 19kg per-bike weight limit. The rack's 35kg total capacity and rail attachment system are engineered for standard pedal bikes. Carrying heavier e-bikes would stress the adhesive bond and clamps beyond their design specifications, risking detachment during transit. For electric bikes, you'll need a dedicated e-bike carrier with reinforced mounting and higher weight ratings.
How does the AcuTight torque limiter work on this bike rack?
The AcuTight knobs have an internal mechanism that clicks audibly and releases when optimal tightening force is reached. This prevents over-tightening that might crush bike frames, especially carbon fibre models, whilst ensuring sufficient clamping pressure to hold bikes securely. The lockable knobs also deter theft, requiring the Thule key to remove bikes. Once you hear and feel the click, stop turning - the bike arm is properly secured.
Do the rails stay on the van permanently or can I remove the whole system?
The aluminium rails bond permanently to your Transit's rear doors using the adhesive sealant, but the main 9.5kg bike rack assembly detaches from these rails using the clamp system. This means you install the rails once, then clip the rack on and off as needed throughout the season. Removing the rack for winter storage or when not cycling protects it from weather and reduces theft risk. If you need to remove the rails entirely, you'll need to carefully cut through the adhesive bond.
