  Product Description
The Kontrol Refillable Aqua Trap tackles one of the most common problems caravan and motorhome owners face: excess moisture. When you're parked up for extended periods or dealing with British weather, condensation builds up fast inside your tourer or motorhome. This 500g scent-free dehumidifier sits quietly wherever you need it, pulling moisture from the air through a replaceable tablet that works continuously for six to eight weeks. The design keeps everything contained in a calibrated reservoir below, which you empty through the integrated spout when needed.

What makes this different from disposable moisture traps is the refillable design. Once the tablet has absorbed its full capacity (up to 900ml per tablet), you pour away the collected water and slot in a replacement Kontrol Refill Tab. No complicated setup, no electricity needed, no fragrance to worry about if you're sensitive to scents. It's particularly useful in awnings, storage lockers, or anywhere air circulation is limited. Tourers left on seasonal pitches or motorhomes in storage between trips benefit from having one of these working away in the background.

The main limitation is coverage area. This size works well for smaller spaces like washrooms, overcab beds, or individual lockers, but you'll need multiple units for larger tourers or twin-axle caravans. The tablets do need replacing every six to eight weeks depending on humidity levels, so factor that running cost in. Compatible with standard Kontrol refill tabs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does each Kontrol Aqua Trap refill tablet last in a caravan?
Each 500g refill tablet lasts between six to eight weeks in typical conditions. The lifespan depends on humidity levels inside your caravan or motorhome. If you're parked in a particularly damp location or during wet winter months, the tablet will absorb moisture faster and need replacing sooner. When stored in drier conditions or summer months, tablets often reach the full eight-week mark.
What area does the 500g Kontrol Aqua Trap cover?
The 500g Aqua Trap works best in spaces up to 10-15 square metres. This makes it suitable for caravan washrooms, overcab sleeping areas, individual storage lockers, or small awnings. For larger tourers or twin-axle caravans, you'll need multiple units positioned in different areas. The effectiveness depends on air circulation and existing moisture levels in the space.
How do you empty the Kontrol Aqua Trap reservoir?
The Aqua Trap has a built-in spout on the reservoir for controlled pouring. When you see liquid has collected in the bottom chamber, simply tip the unit over a sink or drain and pour the water out through the spout. The calibrated design means you know when it's getting full. After emptying, you put it back in position and it continues working until the tablet needs replacing.
Will the Kontrol Aqua Trap work when my caravan is in winter storage?
Yes, the Aqua Trap works particularly well during storage periods. It needs no electricity, so it continues removing moisture from the air even when your caravan is locked up and winterised. Place units in problem areas like the washroom, under fixed beds, or in storage lockers before you leave for winter. Check and empty them when you visit to prevent overflow, especially during the first few weeks when condensation levels are highest.
What refill tablets fit the Kontrol Aqua Trap?
The Aqua Trap uses Kontrol brand refill tablets, sometimes called Kontrol Tabz or Kontrol Krystals. These are calcium chloride tablets specifically designed for this moisture trap system. The unit is compatible with both scented and scent-free refill options. Some retailers sell them as 400g, 450g, or 500g tablets. The Aqua Trap also works with other proprietary refills and granule packs that fit the chamber dimensions.
How does the Kontrol Aqua Trap remove moisture from the air?
The tablet contains calcium chloride crystals which are hygroscopic, meaning they naturally attract water molecules from the air. When relative humidity rises above 60 percent, the crystals begin absorbing moisture through a chemical process. The crystals harden into a solid mass, then gradually dissolve as they pull more moisture from the air. The collected water drips into the reservoir below. When humidity drops below 60 percent, the process slows or stops until moisture levels rise again.
Where should you place the Aqua Trap in a caravan?
Place the Aqua Trap in areas where condensation typically forms. The washroom is the most common spot because showers and sinks create humidity. Overcab beds often suffer from condensation in cold weather, making them another good location. Storage lockers, particularly external ones, benefit from moisture control. Under fixed beds where air circulation is poor also works well. Keep the unit on a stable, level surface away from edges where it might tip over.
How do you know when to replace the Kontrol tablet?
Replace the tablet when it has completely dissolved and you're left with just liquid in the reservoir. The calcium chloride crystals shrink as they absorb moisture and convert to liquid form. When you see no solid tablet remaining in the top chamber, it's finished. The tablet absorbs up to 900ml of moisture before needing replacement. If you notice the reservoir is nearly full but some tablet remains, empty the liquid and let it continue working.
