  Product Description
The Brunner Polarys Twinair 3000 is a portable split air conditioner built for caravans, campervans and motorhomes where a roof-mounted unit isn't practical or wanted. It splits into two parts. The condenser hangs outside the vehicle and the evaporator sits inside, with the two linked by a flexible hose that runs through a partially open window or awning panel. There's no drilling, no cutting and no permanent change to your van, so it suits anyone who'd rather not modify the roof or who already has solar panels taking up that space. It runs on 230V mains, which makes it a campsite electric hookup (EHU) unit rather than an off-grid one.

What size caravan or campervan does the Twinair 3000 cool?

The Twinair 3000 delivers 3000 BTU (900W) of cooling and is rated for spaces up to 25 to 30 cubic metres, which covers most vehicles under around 5 metres internal length, 2-berth caravans and side-dinette layouts. Power draw is 345W at 230V, low enough to run on a modest campsite hookup alongside a fridge and lights.

The indoor evaporator measures 45.5 x 17 x 33cm and weighs 5.6kg, while the outdoor condenser measures 43.5 x 21 x 35.5cm and weighs 14.4kg. Both units store away when you're not using them, so they don't take up permanent floor space. Running noise sits at 53dB, quieter than most single-hose portable air conditioners, and a night mode drops the fan to its lowest level and dims the display for sleeping. The temperature adjusts between 16°C and 30°C across two ventilation levels, and the unit also dehumidifies, which helps in damp conditions or after rain. Control is via the LED display on the indoor unit or the free Brunner app over Wi-Fi.

The Twinair 3000 is the lower-output sibling of the Twinair 5, sharing the same split design and the same physical footprint while drawing less power. Because nothing is fixed to the vehicle, there are no warranty implications for your van and you're free to move the unit between vehicles, or take it home for a spare room in a heatwave. Store both halves upright when travelling and plan where the connecting hose will route before you fit it, since the window needs to sit slightly ajar to pass the hose through.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size vehicle does the Brunner Polarys Twinair 3000 cool?
The Twinair 3000 delivers 3000 BTU (900W) of cooling and is rated for spaces up to 25 to 30 cubic metres. That covers most vehicles under around 5 metres internal length, 2-berth caravans, and side-dinette layouts. For best results in an open-plan layout, close off the sleeping area and direct the airflow into the space you're using.
Does the Brunner Twinair 3000 work without mains hookup?
The Twinair 3000 requires a 230V mains supply and draws 345W. It is designed for campsites with electric hookup (EHU). It does not run on 12V leisure batteries alone, and powering it through an inverter from battery storage would drain even a large lithium bank within a few hours. For mains hookup touring it is a practical and efficient choice.
How do you install the Brunner Twinair 3000 split air conditioner?
Installation needs no drilling or permanent modification. The indoor evaporator sits inside the vehicle and the outdoor condenser hangs outside, connected by a flexible hose routed through a partially open window or awning zip panel. Setup takes a few minutes and requires no tools. Both units store upright when not in use, so plan space of roughly 45.5 x 17 x 33cm for the indoor unit and 43.5 x 21 x 35.5cm for the outdoor condenser.
How noisy is the Brunner Twinair 3000 at night?
The Twinair 3000 runs at 53dB, quieter than a typical household fan and quieter than most single-hose portable air conditioners. A dedicated night mode drops the fan to its lowest setting and dims the display, making it suitable for overnight use. Because the condenser sits outside, most of the working noise stays outside the living space.
What is the difference between the Twinair 3000 and the Twinair 5?
The Twinair 3000 delivers 3000 BTU (900W) of cooling and draws 345W, suited to smaller vehicles up to around 5 metres. The Twinair 5 steps up to 5000 BTU (1460W) for spaces up to 30 cubic metres and draws 560W. Both share the same split-system design, the same physical footprint, app control over Wi-Fi, and dual fan speeds. The 3000 is the lower-output, lower-draw option for compact layouts.
Can the Brunner Twinair 3000 dehumidify as well as cool?
Yes. The Twinair 3000 includes a dehumidification function alongside cooling, useful in damp conditions or after rain when condensation builds up inside the vehicle. The unit produces condensate water during operation, which drains via a pipe from the indoor unit, so factor in where this will route when positioning the evaporator inside your van.
How is the Brunner Twinair 3000 controlled?
The Twinair 3000 is controlled either by the LED display on the indoor evaporator unit or by the free Brunner app over Wi-Fi from a smartphone or tablet. It offers two ventilation levels and an adjustable temperature range from 16°C to 30°C, so you can set the cabin temperature and switch modes without getting up.
Do I need to modify my caravan or van to fit the Twinair 3000?
No modification is needed. The Twinair 3000 hangs over an existing window or awning flap with no cutting or drilling, which means no warranty implications for your vehicle. Because nothing is fixed in place, you can move the unit between vehicles or use it at home. The window sits slightly ajar to pass the connecting hose, so a rolled towel or foam insert helps seal the remaining gap and keep the cool air in.
