The Outwell Dreamboat Single 7.5cm self-inflating mat brings proper sleeping comfort to camping without the bulk you'd expect from a 7.5cm thick mat. What sets it apart is the horizontal cut-out zones running through the foam core - these aren't just weight-saving gimmicks, they actually create pressure zones that adapt to your body shape. You get the support where you need it (hips and shoulders) while the mat compresses less in other areas, which means you're not rolling into the middle of the mat by 3am. The R-value of 6.0 makes this suitable for three-season camping and even chilly autumn nights in the caravan awning.

Inflation takes about 3-4 minutes with the Flat High-Flow valve doing most of the work - you'll typically need to add a few breaths at the end to get it firm enough. The 30D recycled stretch polyester on top and bottom feels soft against skin (no sleeping bag slip here) while the static 190T fabric on the sides maintains the 3D shape during inflation. At 2.4kg it's heavier than budget foam mats but lighter than comparable thickness alternatives. The TPU coating is bonded rather than laminated, which prevents that annoying delamination issue where cheaper mats develop bubbles after a season or two.

Packed dimensions of 78 x 15cm mean it'll fit in most caravan storage lockers or strapped to a rucksack, though it's better suited to car camping than wild camping given the weight. The carry bag has a wide opening that actually makes rolling the mat back up manageable - deflate it, fold lengthways twice, then roll from the opposite end to the valve with the valve open. One limitation: the 77cm width is snug for broader-shouldered adults or anyone who moves about a lot while sleeping. The PFAS-free construction meets current environmental standards, which matters if you're conscious about chemical treatments in outdoor gear.
