View description
The Outdoor Revolution Cayman Air is an inflatable driveaway awning for campervan owners who want a full-sized living space next to their vehicle. It is available in Low, Mid and High sizes to fit attachment heights from 180cm up to 305cm, and each size comes with a footprint.

The single-inflation Dura-Tech welded Oxygen Air Frame system goes up in around 15 minutes with two people and the supplied manual pump. Tensile Active ripstop polyester with a 4,000mm hydrostatic head keeps rain out, and a fully sewn-in PE groundsheet with fold-down access upstands seals the floor. Zip-back front and side doors with Phoenix mesh ventilation panels let air through, while PVC windows with toggle-in privacy blinds offer light and privacy. A roof ventilation system with a Velcro storm cover brings airflow from above.

A zip-out back door offers access to the vehicle or takes the add-on Cayman 2 berth sleeping annexe, and hanging points inside hold an optional inner tent. An integral eyebrow canopy with a fibreglass pole shields the front entrance. Inner cowl tension straps with bungee adjustment and 4mm and 6mm twin cowl piping fix the awning to the vehicle. A manual air pump, footprint, peg set and carrying bag come supplied.

The Cayman DT is the poled alternative in the same range, made on a Dura-Tech fibre-glass frame at 13.6kg. Campervan owners who like an inflate-and-go pitch in around 15 minutes reach for the Cayman Air, while those who favour a conventional poled frame and a lighter packed weight select the DT.

How does the Cayman Air driveaway awning attach to a vehicle?

The Cayman Air fixes through inner cowl tension straps with bungee adjustment and 4mm and 6mm twin cowl piping, offering a snug fit to your vehicle's awning rail. It is available in three height ranges (Low 180-220cm, Mid 220-255cm and High 255-305cm), so you pick the size matching your attachment point.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Cayman Air driveaway awning?
The footprint is 300 x 300cm, plus an 80cm cowl depth at the vehicle end, with about 220cm of internal standing height. A fully sewn-in PE groundsheet seals the floor.
What sizes does the Cayman Air come in?
Three sizes: Low (180-220cm), Mid (220-255cm) and High (255-305cm). The size refers to the attachment height on your vehicle, measured at the awning rail or gutter.
Should I choose the Cayman Air or the Cayman DT?
The Cayman Air uses an inflatable Oxygen Air Frame for a quick inflate-and-go pitch at 15.6kg. The Cayman DT uses a Dura-Tech fibreglass poled frame at 13.6kg. Both share the same 300 x 300cm footprint and Tensile Active fabric.
How long does the Cayman Air take to pitch?
About 15 minutes with two people, using the single-inflation Dura-Tech welded Oxygen Air Frame and the included manual pump. It inflates in one go through a single valve.
Is the Cayman Air waterproof?
Tensile Active ripstop polyester with a 4,000mm hydrostatic head gives reliable rain protection. The fully sewn-in PE groundsheet with fold-down access upstands seals the floor, and PVC windows close off with toggle-in privacy blinds.
Does the Cayman Air take a sleeping annexe?
Yes. A zip-out rear door on the awning takes the optional Cayman Annexe, which adds a separate 2 berth sleeping inner tent beside the main living area.
What is included with the Cayman Air?
A manual air pump, footprint, peg set and carry bag. The Cayman sleeping annexe and inner tents are optional extras, sold separately.
What warranty does the Cayman Air have?
All Outdoor Revolution driveaway awnings include a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults, starting from the purchase date by the original owner.

Hydrostatic Head4000The Hydrostatic Head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! An awning needs at least a 1000mmHH for light showers. Heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and therefore requires a higher HH of at least 2000mm HH. Anything higher than this will mean it can keep out water being pushed through, for example by someone leaning against it.
MaterialPolyesterIf you want to travel in warmer climates, then consider an awning made from polycotton, as it will keep you cooler and have less condensation. Polyester awnings are lighter than the polycotton, often more affordable and work perfectly in the UK climate. The roof fabrc for cassette awnings can be vinyl, which is a fully waterproof, robust material.
Pole ConstructionInflatable Air TubesYou may be interested in an awning with inflatable air poles, which are generally much quicker to erect, but can be heavier in weight. Or, you may like a more traditional awning, a rigid construction, with poles made from either fibreglass, steel or an alloy.
Type of AwningDrive-away AwningYou are able to leave your awning standing with a driveaway awning. A standard awning you would need to take down before leaving the campsite. A cassette awning is a wind-out awning that is attached to the side of the van enclosed in a case.
Weight15.60This is how much your awning weighs, which needs to be considered if you don't want to be carrying too heavier weights during transport.
