View description
The Outdoor Revolution Cayman DT Driveaway Awning is a poled shelter for campervan and motorhome owners who want a spacious living space next to their vehicle. It covers a 300 x 300cm footprint (plus an 80cm cowl depth) on a Dura-Tech fibreglass pole frame, with a front-facing eyebrow canopy made in for additional rain and sun cover at the door.

Zip-back front and side doors with Phoenix mesh ventilation panels let air through and stop insects getting in, and a zip-out back door takes an add-on Cayman sleeping annexe or offers access to the vehicle. Inside, PVC windows with toggle-in privacy blinds bring in light, a roof ventilation system with a Velcro storm cover moves the air, and the PE groundsheet is fully stitched in with fold-down access upstands. Hanging points take an add-on 2 berth sleeping inner tent.

Inner cowl tension straps and a bungee system connect the awning to the vehicle, with 4mm and 6mm twin piping to suit different rail kinds and twin back zip-back cowl access doors. Lime green guylines with fast adjusters and an adjustable webbing pegging system hold the pitch. A footprint groundsheet, peg set and carrying bag come supplied.

The Cayman Air uses an Oxygen Air Frame with single-point inflation rather than poles and, in the Low height range, weighs 15.6kg. The Cayman DT is for those who favour a poled frame at a lighter 13.6kg. Both share the same 300 x 300cm footprint , the same Phoenix mesh doors, an eyebrow canopy and a zip-out back door for an annexe.

How does the Cayman DT driveaway awning attach to a vehicle?

The Cayman DT connects through inner cowl tension straps and a bungee system, with 4mm and 6mm twin piping to suit different rail kinds. Twin rear zip-back cowl access doors offer entry to the vehicle, the awning fits campervans and motorhomes inside the Low or Mid height range.

Hydrostatic Head4000The Hydrostatic Head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! An awning needs at least a 1000mmHH for light showers. Heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and therefore requires a higher HH of at least 2000mm HH. Anything higher than this will mean it can keep out water being pushed through, for example by someone leaning against it.
MaterialPolyesterIf you want to travel in warmer climates, then consider an awning made from polycotton, as it will keep you cooler and have less condensation. Polyester awnings are lighter than the polycotton, often more affordable and work perfectly in the UK climate. The roof fabrc for cassette awnings can be vinyl, which is a fully waterproof, robust material.
Pole ConstructionPoledYou may be interested in an awning with inflatable air poles, which are generally much quicker to erect, but can be heavier in weight. Or, you may like a more traditional awning, a rigid construction, with poles made from either fibreglass, steel or an alloy.
Type of AwningDrive-away AwningYou are able to leave your awning standing with a driveaway awning. A standard awning you would need to take down before leaving the campsite. A cassette awning is a wind-out awning that is attached to the side of the van enclosed in a case.
Weight13.60This is how much your awning weighs, which needs to be considered if you don't want to be carrying too heavier weights during transport.
