The BOXIO Water Filter System is a compact, lightweight gravity filtration setup designed for anyone spending time outdoors without access to mains water. It weighs just 0.36 kg and stands 15.5 cm tall, so it takes up almost no space in a pack. The 3-stage filtration process works through a PP cotton pre-filter, a hollow fibre UF membrane, and an activated carbon pad, removing 99.99% of bacteria (tested with E. coli), protozoa, and microplastics, as well as odours and bad taste from freshwater sources.

The BOXIO Water Filter System is well-suited for camping, van life, trekking, and emergency preparedness. It filters up to 8,000 litres before needing replacement and works without pumps or electricity. The included 5-litre TPU water bag lets you collect water at the source and filter by gravity, making it practical for solo trips or small groups.

The system offers three ways to use it. Drink directly through it as a straw, attach it to the included flexible bladder or a standard PET bottle for drinking on the move, or hang the 5-litre water bag above the filter and fill a canister by gravity for camp use. Replacement filter pads are sold separately in a storage pack, covering activated carbon and pre-filter pads, so the unit stays in service long-term. The ABS housing with hollow fibre UF membrane is backwashable, meaning you get consistent flow performance over the life of the filter.

How do you backwash the BOXIO water filter to clean it?
Backwashing the BOXIO water filter reverses the flow of clean water back through the UF membrane to flush out accumulated particles and restore flow rate. This is done periodically during use, particularly when the filtration speed slows noticeably. Full backwashing instructions are included in the assembly instructions supplied with the unit and available as a download from BOXIO.
