The Robens Hunter Tent Stove brings proper heat and cooking capability to canvas accommodation without electricity. This wood-burning unit fits inside bell tents, tipi tents, and suitable canvas shelters where you need reliable warmth during cold weather camping. Built from steel with stainless steel components, it weighs 17.6kg and packs down to 55 x 34 x 44cm with folding legs and a supplied carry bag. The Hunter includes everything needed for installation: eight flue pipe sections totalling 2.96 metres, a spark arrestor for safe operation, flue protector, and two detachable side racks for drying gear or holding cookware.

Three sides feature German-made glass panels that let you watch the fire and gauge fuel levels without opening the door. The cooking surface on top handles pots and pans, while a removable top plate grants direct firebox access when you need higher heat for boiling water or searing food. Air intake control through the front door lets you manage combustion rate and heat output. The low profile design (263mm height) spreads heat efficiently across tent living spaces rather than funnelling it straight upward. Each flue pipe section measures 37cm long with 13cm diameter, giving flexibility in positioning the exit point through your tent's stove jack.

You'll need a tent specifically designed with a stove jack (fireproof exit point) to use this safely. Bell tents and expedition-style canvas shelters typically include these, but standard camping tents don't. The 17.6kg weight makes this heavier than portable camping stoves, though comparable to other tent stoves with similar capabilities. Assembly takes around 15 minutes once you've done it a couple of times. Wood consumption depends on outside temperature and tent insulation, but expect to feed it every 45 minutes to an hour during active use. The glass panels need occasional cleaning as soot builds up, though the air intake control helps minimize this when properly adjusted.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size bell tent does the Robens Hunter work with?
The Hunter works best in bell tents from 4m diameter upwards. Smaller tents don't provide enough space around the stove for safe operation, and the heat output would be too intense for compact spaces.
Do I need any additional parts to install this tent stove?
No additional parts are needed. The Hunter includes everything for installation: 8 flue pipe sections, spark arrestor, flue protector, side racks, and carry bag. Your tent must have a stove jack opening though.
How long does the wood burn in the Robens Hunter stove?
Wood consumption depends on outside temperature and tent insulation, but expect to add fuel every 45-60 minutes during active use. Hardwoods burn longer than softwoods, and controlling air intake extends burn time.
Can I use this stove in a regular camping tent?
No, regular camping tents aren't suitable for wood-burning stoves. You need a canvas tent specifically designed with a fireproof stove jack opening. Bell tents, tipi tents, and expedition canvas shelters typically include these safety features.
What's the maximum chimney height with all flue pipes?
The 8 included flue pipe sections total 2.96 metres in length. When assembled vertically from the stove body, the maximum chimney height reaches 3.3 metres, providing excellent draft and safe smoke clearance above tent height.
