The Vango Lightbeam 250 Recharge gives you flexible lighting options inside your tent or awning without trailing cables everywhere. It runs between 4 and 40 hours depending on which brightness setting you choose, and charges fully via USB-C in three hours. You can switch between warm and white light modes and dim either to suit what you're doing, whether that's reading before bed or getting dressed in the morning. The magnetic attachment points click straight onto metal tent poles or frame sections, whilst the two elastic webbing straps slot into Vango's Sky Track system if your tent has one fitted.

This light works best in Vango tents with Sky Track, though the magnets attach to any steel tent pole. The USB-C charging means you can top it up from a powerbank, leisure battery with USB adapter, or mains hook-up point. At 250 lumens maximum output, it provides enough light for a medium-sized tent or awning space. The webbing straps let you position it along the ridgeline or suspend it from hanging points. It's worth noting the runtime drops significantly on full brightness, so if you need light all evening you'll want to use the lower settings or have a backup option.

The rechargeable design saves you buying disposable batteries throughout the season. The dimmable function lets you reduce light levels when you need less brightness, which stretches the runtime considerably. You get both warm and white light options, so you can choose warmer tones for relaxing in the evening or cooler white light when you need better visibility for tasks. The magnetic mounts work instantly with compatible tent poles, and the elastic straps give you alternative hanging options if magnets won't stick to your tent frame.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Vango Lightbeam 250 Recharge last on a single charge?
Runtime varies from 4 hours on maximum brightness to 40 hours on the lowest dimmed setting. If you use medium brightness settings for typical evening use, expect somewhere between 8 and 15 hours depending on whether you choose warm or white light mode and how much you dim it.
Will the magnetic mounts work on aluminium tent poles?
No, magnets only stick to ferrous metals like steel. Most Vango AirBeam tents use inflatable tubes rather than metal poles, which is why this light includes elastic webbing straps for Sky Track compatibility. The magnets work on steel-poled tents or metal awning frames but you'll need to use the webbing straps on aluminium or fibreglass pole structures.
What is Vango Sky Track and does my tent need it?
Sky Track is Vango's webbing channel system sewn into the ceiling of many of their tents, running along the ridge or ceiling panels. You thread accessories through these channels to hang lights, organisers, or other gear without needing separate hanging points. The Lightbeam 250's elastic straps slide through Sky Track to position the light wherever you need it. If your tent doesn't have Sky Track, you can still use the magnetic mounts on metal poles or loop the straps around other hanging points.
Can I charge the Lightbeam 250 whilst using it?
Most USB-C rechargeable lights support pass-through charging, meaning they work whilst plugged in. You can connect it to a powerbank or USB adapter from your leisure battery to run it indefinitely without draining the internal battery. This works well if you're on hook-up or have reliable solar power during multi-day trips.
How bright is 250 lumens for tent lighting?
250 lumens provides adequate lighting for a four to six person tent or medium-sized awning space. It's bright enough to read, cook, or get changed comfortably but not so intense that it's uncomfortable in an enclosed space. For larger family tents or awnings, you might want two units positioned at different points, or pair it with a secondary light source for the living area.
What's the difference between warm and white light modes?
White light (around 5000-6000K colour temperature) gives better visibility for tasks like reading maps, cooking, or finding things in bags. Warm light (around 2700-3000K) creates a more relaxed atmosphere for socialising or winding down before sleep, and some people find it less likely to attract insects. Both modes are fully dimmable so you can adjust brightness independently.
Is the Lightbeam 250 waterproof or weatherproof?
Vango hasn't published an IP rating for this light, so treat it as water-resistant rather than waterproof. It handles condensation and light splashes inside a tent but shouldn't be left out in heavy rain. The USB-C charging port needs to stay dry when not in use. Keep it inside your tent or awning rather than using it as an exterior porch light in wet conditions.
