The Dometic CoolPower EPS 100 is a 230V mains adaptor that lets you run any 12V or 24V Dometic or Waeco compressor fridge from a domestic plug socket. It takes UK mains power, converts it down to a clean 24V DC output, and feeds your fridge through the same low-voltage cable it normally uses on the road. Rated at 100 watts continuous output with a 4 amp current draw, it's built around the Danfoss BD35F compressor platform found in the Coolfreeze CDF, Coolmatic MDC, CB36, CB40, CR and CRX ranges.

How does the EPS 100 switch between mains and battery power?


The EPS 100 uses an automatic mains-priority circuit. When permanently wired between your 12V or 24V leisure battery and the fridge, it detects 230V hook-up and routes mains power to the compressor. If the hook-up drops out, it reverts to the leisure battery within seconds, so the fridge keeps running without manual switching.

What you get is one fridge that works in three places. At home before a trip you plug it into the wall to pre-cool, on site you draw from the bollard through your hook-up lead, and once you're off-grid the unit hands over to your leisure battery. Owners typically install the EPS 100 behind the condenser of a built-in CRX or CR series fridge, where the 170 x 115 x 65 mm casing sits flush without altering the cabinet dimensions. A fixing bracket and screws are included along with spade-terminal output wires, two pre-stripped low-voltage input wires, and a moulded UK three-pin mains plug.

This is the standard Dometic-recommended accessory for permanent dual-supply installations in motorhomes, campervans, narrowboats and yachts where the cooling appliance needs to run on shore power without dragging the leisure battery down. The 24V output is also more efficient for the BD35F compressor than 12V, so running on the EPS 100 puts less load on the system overall.
