  Product Description
The Olpro Orion is a 6 man poled tent for young families who want three berths now and six later. Both 3 berth bedroom compartments come with it: pitch one and the other half of the tent becomes an extra large living space while the children are small, then add the second bedroom for a full six berth as the family grows.

A roof skylight fills the living area with light by day and lets you stargaze after dark, and there are extra large windows on each side. The bedroom compartments are made of darkened material for a proper night's sleep, and both doors carry fly mesh screens. Steel leg poles and fibreglass roof poles offer the frame its steadiness, it pitches in around 20 minutes, and both doors pitch out as canopies on the supplied canopy poles.

The flysheet is OLTECH® REPRO 190T, made of repurposed disposable plastic bottles, with fully taped seams and a 5,000mm hydrostatic head. A fully sewn-in groundsheet keeps bugs and draughts out, ventilation points keep the air moving, and a cable entry point brings in hook-up power. A spare bedroom pole, a repair kit and a carrying bag come with it, and it packs down to 75 x 30 x 30cm at 18kg. Olpro also makes an Orion footprint groundsheet and tent carpet, and its Product Lifetime Warranty covers the tent as soon as you register it with Olpro inside 30 days of buying.

Groups of six who want a bedroom at each end, and standing height in the living space between them, pick the Stafford 6.0 from Olpro's Ed Stafford collection. The Orion is for a young family who want three berths now and six later: pitch one bedroom while the children are small, add the second as they grow, and stargaze through the roof skylight after dark.

How does the Olpro Orion work as both a 3 and a 6 man tent?

The Orion includes two 3 berth bedroom compartments. Pitch one and the other half of the 550 x 240cm tent becomes an extra large living space, or pitch both for six. The tent stands 200 cm high, weighs 18kg and pitches in around 20 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Olpro Orion?
It measures 550cm long, 240cm wide and 200cm high, with two 3 berth darkened bedroom compartments and a living area lit by a roof skylight. The tent weighs 18kg and packs down to 75 x 30 x 30cm in its carry bag.
Should I choose the Orion or the Stafford 6.0?
Choose the Orion for a young family who want three berths now and six later, with a roof skylight in the living area. It covers 550 x 240cm and pitches in about 20 minutes. The Stafford 6.0 has two removable 3 berth blackout bedrooms either side of its living area and 210cm of standing height on a 620 x 300cm footprint. Both weigh 18kg.
Does the Orion work as a 3 man tent?
Yes. Pitch one of the two 3 berth bedroom compartments and the other half of the tent becomes an extra large living area. Add the second bedroom when you need all six berths.
How long does the Orion take to pitch?
Olpro quotes about 20 minutes. The frame uses four steel leg poles, two fibreglass roof poles and two fibreglass bedroom poles, a spare bedroom pole comes in the bag, and Olpro has a video on YouTube showing how to pitch it.
Is the Orion waterproof?
The OLTECH REPRO 190T flysheet has fully taped seams and a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, which Olpro explains as holding back the pressure of 5 metres of water before anything seeps through. A fully sewn-in groundsheet keeps bugs and draughts out.
Does the Orion have a skylight?
Yes. A roof skylight fills the living area with light during the day and lets you stargaze at night, and there are extra large windows on each side of the tent.
Does the Orion take an electric hook-up?
Yes. A cable entry point brings hook-up power into the tent, and ventilation points keep the air moving inside, with fly mesh screens on both doors.
What warranty does the Orion have?
Olpro gives a Product Lifetime Warranty on qualifying new canvas products bought in 2024 or later, tents included. It covers genuine manufacturing faults over the product's reasonable expected life. If you buy it from a retailer, register it with Olpro within 30 days and keep your proof of purchase.

Features at a Glance
Hydrostatic Head (mm)5000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialRecycled Plastic PolyesterMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Number of Bedrooms2This is the number of sectioned off bedrooms that are included in this tent. The standard industry allowance is 60cm per person, though larger or premium tents often provide more space.
Persons6Tent berth indicates how many people your tent can accommodate for sleeping. The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
Pole constructionPoled (Fibreglass)This is whether the poles are inflatable (air) or rigid (e.g - fibreglass / steel or aluminium).
Weight (kg)18This is the weight of the tent in kg.
