The Olpro Stafford 8.0 is an 8 man poled tent for big families and groups of up to eight who would like to socialise together by day and sleep apart at night. It is the biggest tent in Olpro's Ed Stafford collection, with three blackout inner bedrooms around a middle living space with 210cm of standing height.

Each of the three bedrooms comes out. Run it as a full 8 berth, or take a bedroom out when less of you are camping and use the space for additional living or stowage room. The living area has PVC windows, a cable entry point for hook-up power and ventilation points to keep condensation down, and there is a lantern hook in each room. Olpro made the Stafford collection with explorer Ed Stafford, from 2 man backpacking tents to 8 man family tents.

Five fibreglass poles pitch it in around 30 minutes. The AQUABARRIER™ four-tier zip system keeps water out of the doorways and the TERRAGRIP™ peg system keeps the flysheet tight. The fabric is OLTECH® REPRO 210T RPS, which Olpro makes mostly from recycled plastic bottles, 8 of them in each square metre, coated to a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, with fly mesh doors and a fully sewn-in groundsheet. Canopy poles, a repair kit, pegs, guy ropes and a carrying bag come with it, and it packs down to 70 x 40 x 40cm at 28kg. Olpro's Product Lifetime Warranty covers it as soon as you register it with Olpro inside 30 days of buying.

Families and groups of up to six pick the Stafford 6.0, the next size down, which takes a smaller pitch and, at 18kg, is the lighter of the two to carry. The Stafford 8.0 is for large families and groups of up to eight who would like to spend the day together and sleep apart after dark, and as each of its three bedrooms comes out, it still works when fewer of you come along. Both offer 210cm of standing height and pitch in about 30 minutes on five fibreglass poles.

Hydrostatic Head (mm)5000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
