The Olpro Wichenford 8.0 is an 8 man poled tent for large families and groups of up to eight who'd like to sleep apart but live together. It is Olpro's biggest poled tent, with three darkened inner bedrooms: a 4 berth room in the centre, which has a divider, and a 2 berth room at each end. A big living space sits between them for eating, socialising and wet-weather days.

The tent stands 210cm high with standing room, on a 700 x 300cm footprint. The living space has two cable entry points for hook-up power, stowage pockets, a lantern hook, PVC windows and ventilation points to keep condensation down, and the groundsheet is stitched in to keep bugs and draughts out. Peak canopy poles on both doors let you pitch the doorways out for shade.

Five fibreglass poles and pole clips offer the frame its steadiness, with straps and light guy lines to keep everything tight, and Olpro puts the pitch at 30 minutes. The flysheet is OLTECH® REPRO 210T RPS, a fabric Olpro makes largely from recycled plastic bottles, coated to a 5,000mm hydrostatic head with UV protection. A spare pole, a repair kit, pegs and guy ropes come with it, and it packs down to 70 x 40 x 40cm at 28kg. Olpro's Product Lifetime Warranty covers it as soon as you register it with Olpro inside 30 days of buying.

The Stafford 8.0, from Olpro's Ed Stafford collection, is the same size and weight as the Wichenford and pitches in the same time, so the option comes down to who is coming. Groups whose numbers change from break to outing pick the Stafford, as each of its three blackout bedrooms comes out for additional living or stowage space. The Wichenford 8.0 is for a big family who camp together every getaway, sleeping in a large centre room, which a divider splits, and a smaller room at each end, with the choice of a Wichenford extension, available separately, on either side.

How does the Olpro Wichenford 8.0 split eight people between its bedrooms?

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Olpro Wichenford 8.0?
It measures 700cm long, 300cm wide and 210cm high, with standing room inside. Three darkened bedrooms, a 4 berth in the middle and a 2 berth at each end, sit around a large living space. The tent weighs 28kg and packs down to 70 x 40 x 40cm.
Should I choose the Wichenford 8.0 or the Stafford 8.0?
Both sleep eight on a 700 x 300cm footprint, 210cm high, weigh 28kg and pitch in about 30 minutes. Choose the Wichenford 8.0 for a 4 berth room plus two 2 berth rooms, two cable entry points, a spare pole and the option of a Wichenford extension. The Stafford 8.0 suits groups whose numbers change, as each of its three blackout bedrooms comes out, with AQUABARRIER zips and TERRAGRIP pegs.
Who is the Wichenford 8.0 for?
Olpro made it for big families and groups of up to eight who want to sleep apart but live together. Three darkened bedrooms give everyone a dark place to sleep, and the large living space between them takes meals, socialising and wet-weather days.
How long does the Wichenford 8.0 take to pitch?
Olpro puts it at 30 minutes. Five fibreglass poles and pole clips form the frame, straps and bright guy lines keep it taut, and Olpro has a video on YouTube showing how to pitch it.
How waterproof is the Wichenford 8.0?
The OLTECH REPRO 210T RPS flysheet has a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, which Olpro explains as holding back the pressure of 5 metres of water before anything seeps through. It has UV protection too, and the sewn-in groundsheet keeps bugs and draughts out.
Does the Wichenford 8.0 take an electric hook-up?
Yes, it has two cable entry points for hook-up power. The living space also has a lantern hook, storage pockets, PVC windows and ventilation points to keep condensation down.
What comes with the Wichenford 8.0, and what is sold separately?
The poles, peak canopy poles for the doors, a spare pole, a repair kit, pegs and guy ropes come with it. Olpro lists a Wichenford extension, which fits either side of the tent, a carpet and a footprint groundsheet for it as separate buys.
What warranty does the Wichenford 8.0 have?
Olpro gives a Product Lifetime Warranty on qualifying new canvas products bought in 2024 or later, tents included. It covers genuine manufacturing faults over the product's reasonable expected life. If you buy it from a retailer, register it with Olpro within 30 days and keep your proof of purchase.

Features at a Glance
Hydrostatic Head (mm)5000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialRecycled Plastic PolyesterMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Number of Bedrooms3This is the number of sectioned off bedrooms that are included in this tent. The standard industry allowance is 60cm per person, though larger or premium tents often provide more space.
Persons8Tent berth indicates how many people your tent can accommodate for sleeping. The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
Pole constructionPoled (Fibreglass)This is whether the poles are inflatable (air) or rigid (e.g - fibreglass / steel or aluminium).
Weight (kg)28This is the weight of the tent in kg.
