  Product Description
The Outwell Denver 5 is a 5 man poled tent for families who want a cooler interior on warm days and dark bedrooms after dark. The Outtex® HD CoolTech flysheet reflects heat from the sun, cutting the temperature inside by up to 15°C. DarkShield Inners with Outtex® HD DarkTech block up to 99% of light in the bedrooms for better sleep.

The three-room tunnel layout splits into two bedrooms and a central living space. A front canopy with roll-back side protection extends the covered space outside, and a side door with a mesh panel behind it offers a second way in and out. The front door has double zips backed by a full mesh panel for insect-free ventilation. The patented Quick and Quiet inner door opens and shuts without waking anybody in the bedroom. Mesh stowage pockets in the inner tents keep smaller items to hand.

The PowerTec fibreglass pole system uses square segments for sturdiness and steadiness, and the patented Wind Stabilizer System is tested to force 9 on the Beaufort scale. The 150D solution-dyed flysheet withstands fading over time. The sewn-in groundsheet keeps the floor dry, and the warm-toned flysheet roof offers the interior a bright feel. The built-in Outwell Light System runs from a USB-C power source (minimum 10W, not supplied). The hydrostatic head is rated at 4,000mm. Outwell covers all its products with a two-year limited guarantee against manufacturing defects.

Families who favour a breathable polycotton fabric over a heat-reflecting polyester look at the Outwell Birdland 4 TC, which sleeps four in a two-bedroom layout using Outtex® AirTech polycotton at 26.3kg. The Denver 5 fits families of five who camp in the summer and want a cooler tent during the day, with bedrooms dark enough to sleep well past sunrise.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Outwell Denver 5 keep cool in warm weather?
The Outtex® HD CoolTech flysheet reflects heat from the sun, reducing the interior temperature by up to 15°C on warm days. The 150D solution-dyed fabric also resists fading from UV exposure, keeping its colour longer.
How dark are the bedrooms in the Denver 5?
DarkShield Inners with Outtex® HD DarkTech block up to 99% of light in the bedroom areas. Combined with mesh ventilation, the bedrooms stay dark for sleeping while still allowing air to flow.
What is the Wind Stabilizer System on the Denver 5?
The Wind Stabilizer System is a patented connection between the outer tent, poles and guylines, built for strength in high winds. Outwell states it is tested to force 9 on the Beaufort scale, which is a strong gale.
Should I choose the Denver 5 or the Birdland 4 TC?
The Denver 5 suits families of five who camp in summer, with a CoolTech flysheet reducing heat by up to 15°C and DarkShield bedrooms. The Birdland 4 TC sleeps four in breathable polycotton with two bedrooms and a front canopy, at a similar weight of 26.3kg.
Does the Denver 5 have a side door?
Yes. A side door with a mesh panel gives a second way in and out, beside the double-zipped front door. Both doors have mesh options for insect-free ventilation on warmer days.
How heavy is the Outwell Denver 5?
It weighs 26.8kg and packs to 77 x 39 x 35cm. The three-room tunnel layout sleeps five in two bedrooms with a central living area, on PowerTec fibreglass poles.
Does the Denver 5 have built-in lighting?
Yes. The integrated Outwell Light System lights the tent from above, powered by a USB-C source with a minimum output of 10W. The power source is not included with the tent.
What warranty does the Denver 5 have?
Outwell provides a two-year limited warranty on all its products, covering manufacturing defects. Products undergo testing before market, and Outwell has a dedicated after-sales team for help and advice.

Features at a Glance
Hanging StorageOutwell's HookTrack System A flexible hanging system which allows you to easily attach lighting or storage in your tent living area. Items of up to 1.5Kg can be conveniently hung along this beading rail, usually by a hook system.
Hydrostatic Head (mm)4000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialPolyesterMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Number of Bedrooms2This is the number of sectioned off bedrooms that are included in this tent. The standard industry allowance is 60cm per person, though larger or premium tents often provide more space.
Persons5Tent berth indicates how many people your tent can accommodate for sleeping. The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
Pole constructionPowerTec FibreglassThis is whether the poles are inflatable (air) or rigid (e.g - fibreglass / steel or aluminium).
Porch AreaYesA porch area gives campers a lot of extra room, that can be used as a wet zone (drying off before entering the main living space), storage of all your outside gear overnight, or as a place to cook and dine or a great area for your family dog to sleep. It adds a lot of versatility to your camping lifestyle.
Weight (kg)26.80This is the weight of the tent in kg.

1 Customer Review on Outwell Denver 5 - 5 Man Tent

Outwell Denver 5

by Scott McD (04 May 2026)
5 star review(5/5)
A lovely tent! I've always bought Outwell tents for the quality & ease of use.. The Denver doesn't disappoint Love the colour & vibrant guy lines. Love the black out bedroom pod, lots of space for a 5 berth tent. Absolutely love the magnetic curtain entry into the bedroom pods. Love the cabin style front door entry too. The living area is spacious & wide.
The tent is fairy straightedge to pitch.. The ring and pin system is easy to get used to, the next level poles are awesome! Reinforced for flex & strength, brilliant.
Only 1 thing to note, is when it's all packed up & in the bag, it is a heavy tent to move around.. But, it is one of the best, 5 berth tents I've ever had.. I'm super chuffed with my Outwell Denver 5 and would thoroughly recommend it.
Also can I say, dealing with Leisureshoodirect was a seemless transaction, great communication & had confidence in the final quick delivery.
