The Vango Skye 500 is a three-pole tunnel tent designed for five people, built around a straightforward pitching system where the flysheet and inner connect as one unit. You're dealing with Vango's Protex 70 denier polyester flysheet rated at 3000mm hydrostatic head, factory-taped seams throughout, and a PE groundsheet that's designed to handle rough ground. The Lights-Out bedroom fabric cuts down early morning sunlight, which makes a tangible difference if you're camping during summer months or at festivals where sunrise comes early. The PowerFlex fibreglass poles are colour-coded, and the TBS II Tension Band System provides three bracing points on each pole to reduce sideways flex when wind picks up.

The front porch offers proper storage space with a linked-in groundsheet that you can roll underneath the bedroom section when you need extra ventilation or want to create an open sheltered area. Crystal clear PVC windows run along the sides to bring natural light into the living space without compromising weather protection. Pre-attached guylines come positioned at optimal stress points, and lantern hanging points sit in both the bedroom and living areas. Inner pockets provide storage for phones, torches, and other small items you'll need to hand. The tent's been weather tested to EN ISO 5912 standard and uses fire retardant fabrics that exceed EN5912 safety requirements.

This tent works well for weekend camping trips, family holidays, and festival use where you need reliable weather protection and reasonable living space without excessive pack weight. The Fast Pack tent bag features an oversized opening and compression straps to manage bulk. Hydrostatic Head (mm)3000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialPolyesterMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Number of Bedrooms1This is the number of sectioned off bedrooms that are included in this tent. The standard industry allowance is 60cm per person, though larger or premium tents often provide more space.

The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
