  Product Description
The Automatic De-frost Element + Thermostats from C.A.K Tanks is an innovative solution designed to mitigate the risk of water stored in tanks freezing during cold weather conditions. By gently warming the water, this device ensures the tank's contents remain unfrozen, maintaining the fluidity of water even in temperatures down to -25°C. The stainless steel element is easily installed through the side wall of the tank, 55mm up from the base, ideally positioned near the pump outlet. This system is particularly effective for tanks up to 45 litres without additional insulation, making it a crucial addition for those looking to protect their water supply from freezing.

For larger tank capacities or extreme cold conditions, the addition of a tank wrap (such as Tank Wrap 256614) or Styrofoam insulation is recommended to enhance the protection level offered by the Automatic De-frost Element + Thermostats. Furthermore, to optimise battery power consumption, incorporating tank insulation wrap significantly reduces heat loss from tank walls. This not only aids the element in maintaining the water temperature more efficiently but also results in substantial power savings. The element will require less operational time to keep the water from freezing, offering better protection and ensuring the longevity of your vehicle's battery life. This product is essential for maintaining a reliable water supply in your motorhome or camper during the colder months, combining functionality with energy efficiency.
We recommend illuminated on / off switches are installed to confirm power is off as the elements work is not visible. The element is powered by 12 volts DC supply at 30 watts and consume 2.5 amps. Suitable for plastic and metal tanks but not fuel tanks. The Automatic De-frost Element + Thermostats has inbuilt automatic thermostats, turning it on at approx 5C and off at 10C.
