How to Identify if you have a right-handed or left-handed toilet
When you are sat on the toilet inside the caravan or motorhome, if the wall to the outside of the caravan/motorhome is on your left then you have a left-handed toilet. If the exterior wall is on your right then it is a right-handed toilet. (Please note that the photo may not be the correct handed part)

2 FAQs on the Thetford Holding Tank Mechanism - Left

We have a C-402X thetford cassette toilet. When you go to use the toilet you push a knob which normally opens the toilet up. At the moment we can see the blades moving and the black 'disc' which would appear to have come unattached to the blades is sticking . Can you please advise what part we would require. Thank you
The easiest repair is to replace the mechanism, our part 137137 for a left hand version or 137138 for the right hand. The mechanism can be removed by turning the whole assembly anticlockwise and lifting it away from the holding tank. The black disc is known as the blade and is our part 137139 and if this is the only part broken then you may feel that you just wish to replace this part.
Hello, i have a number of enquires about parts i need for my 2003 Adria adora 532ld. The water inlet socket is a truma crystal 2 compact housing and i'm getting lots of sealing problems, water spurts down the outside of the van even when I set the pressure to the lowest possible setting, do I need to replace this with a more up to date version ? The C402 toilet cassette has had no maintenance for 6 years and the flaps and internal moving parts are getting stuck, is there a repair package for all this? also the flush pump has failed (i've seen your repair page on this) so i would need to order this also
Best to replace the Crystal system with the later Ultraflow inlet, our ref. 149669 in Ivory or 149670 in white.
With regard to the toilet cassette then probably best to replace the mechanism assembly, ref 137137 for a left hand or 137138 for a right hand. The position of the outside wall of the caravan when sat on the toilet determines whether LH or RH.

Part failed when we were in Italy. Luckily we carry a spare cassette. Whilst replacing the part I found I could fix the old one, so this one now travels as a spare

The part arrived promptly and was easy to fit, although did have to use a flat metal strip as a lever to start removing the old unit rather than using the shutter as suggested in the instructions. The whole job took less than 15 minutes

I had to replace the holding plate on my motorhome loo. I purchased this new replacement unit & it was very easy to fit. It came with clear instruction for fitting the included float bits before installation but other than that.. great.

Thetford C400 Holding Tank Mechanism

by J Shill (26 Sep 2018)

This is a genuine part so as expected it was perfectly OK. One word of warning - the brand new seals are a very tight fit and I needed liberal quantities of silicone grease to fit to the holding tank.

Flap Guide Found Broken Off And Missing The Night Before Our Holiday !

ordered this at 10pm on Thurs and it was delivered 10am on Saturday. great replacement part for our cassette toilet but initially confused as to the left/right description .... after a bit of disearching i found out this is to with which side the cassette comes out of the toilet. To work it out, imagine sitting on your loo if the cassette comes out on the left this needs a left hand & the right is right hand

Thetford Holding Tank Mechanism

by Mr Dixon (13 Sep 2010)

A quickly and pretty easily installed replacement unit. It would have been useful to have a few notes on the procedure, including the use of a length of timber wedged between the slided to help unscrew the old assembly. Disposable gloves are recommended. You will need to remove the float from the old part and click it into the new one, though everything else is included. A liberal spray of silicone lubricant will help subsequent operation.
