I suspected that smells leaked from the old vent unit, and tried unsuccessfully to service it. The new unit simply screws into place (a quarter or half turn), and immediately the problem was cured. This is an essential part of the toilet, so I am pleased I made the purchase and fitted it.

Fast efficient service. Very easy to fit. When I removed the old one I could see why it had been leaking, spring appeared to have failed, so not holding seal onto seat. Still it lasted 10 years.

Old valve sticking and seal had no life left in it.
This one was just the job, overall it was easy to remove and refit, no leaks................. Exactly what you'd want it to do.
