The Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 is a purpose-built bike carrier for Volkswagen T4 campervans manufactured after 1991 with a single rear tailgate. This tailgate-mounted rack hooks over and under the rear door, requiring no drilling or permanent modifications to the vehicle bodywork. Supplied ready to carry 2 bikes as standard, it comes complete with 2 Quick Pro Rails, Bike Block Pro 1 and Pro 3, plus all necessary straps and brackets for immediate use.

How many bikes will the Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 hold?


The rack carries 2 bikes as standard straight from the box, with a maximum capacity of 4 bikes when additional Rails and Bike Blocks are purchased separately. It supports a total load of 60kg and weighs 8.3kg itself. The 15cm distance between rails provides adequate spacing for different frame sizes.

Installation takes minutes without any tools needed to drill into your van. The bracket system clamps securely onto the tailgate, and the carrier detaches easily when not in use. Compatible with VW T4 California, Coach, Caravelle, Multivan and Transporter models produced from 1991 to 2003, this rack works on vehicles with pop-up roofs too. The Quick Pro Rail system uses pump buckles for fast wheel securing, while the Pro 1 and Pro 3 Bike Blocks provide adjustable frame support.

The carrier's aluminium construction keeps weight down without compromising strength. At 128cm wide, 54cm deep and 138cm high when mounted, it positions bikes clear of rear lights and number plates. The tailgate remains functional with bikes fitted, though you'll need to support it when opening. This carrier also accepts Fiamma's Cargo-Back or Ultra-Box storage solutions for additional gear-carrying options.

Yes, the Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 is compatible with T4 campervans fitted with pop-up or elevating roofs. The rack mounts to the tailgate independently of the roof mechanism and does not interfere with the lifting operation. It fits all VW T4 models from 1991 to 2003 that have a single rear tailgate, including California, Coach, Caravelle, Multivan and Transporter variants with standard or elevating roofs.
Do I need to drill holes in my VW T4 to fit this bike carrier?

What do I need to carry 4 bikes instead of 2 on the VW T4 carrier?
The Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 comes standard with equipment to carry 2 bikes. To expand to 3 or 4 bikes, you need to purchase additional Fiamma Quick Pro Rails and the corresponding Bike Block Pro 2 and Pro 4 clamps separately. Each rail supports one additional bike. The maximum load capacity remains 60kg regardless of the number of bikes, so you need to calculate the combined weight of your bikes to stay within this limit.
Is the Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 suitable for electric bikes?
The Fiamma Carry-Bike VW T4 is not recommended for electric bikes. E-bikes typically weigh between 20-30kg each, and with a 60kg maximum load capacity, you would only be able to carry 2 e-bikes at most. The tailgate-mounted design also means the additional weight could strain the tailgate hinges. For e-bikes, a towbar-mounted carrier with higher load capacity is a safer choice.
