  Product Description
Fabsil Super-Concentrated Gold Universal Protector treats your tent, awning, or outdoor fabric gear with professional-grade waterproofing that actually lasts. This isn't a basic spray. It's a paint-on formula that bonds with fabric fibres to create a barrier against rain, dirt, and stains while maintaining breathability. The 1-litre bottle covers 15-18 square metres on standard tent nylon, making it enough to treat a typical 4-6 person tent completely.

The application takes about 20 minutes for an average tent once you've got your fabric clean and dry. You brush or spray it on, making sure seams and high-wear areas get extra attention, then wipe off any pooling. Most people use it on their tent flysheet, groundsheet edges, and any cotton or polycotton panels that tend to leak after a season's use. It works across nylon, polyester, canvas, polycotton, and ripstop materials, which means you can treat all your camping kit with the same bottle.

One thing to know upfront - you'll need outdoor space or serious ventilation because the fumes are strong during application. The treatment needs 24 hours minimum to cure properly, though leaving it 48 hours gives better results before you pack everything away. Most campers apply it at the end of the season or before a trip where wet weather looks likely, rather than trying to fix leaks mid-camping trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much area does 1 litre of Fabsil Gold cover?

One litre covers 15-18 square metres on lightweight nylon tent fabric, which treats a typical 4-6 person tent flysheet completely. For lightweight canvas the coverage drops to 7-10 square metres, and medium-weight canvas gets 5-7 square metres per litre because the denser weave absorbs more treatment.

What's the difference between Fabsil Gold and regular Fabsil spray?

Fabsil Gold is super-concentrated and applied by brush or spray bottle, giving deeper penetration into fabric fibres for longer-lasting protection. The aerosol spray version applies faster but sits more on the surface, making it better for quick touch-ups rather than full tent treatments. Gold formula typically lasts 12-18 months of regular use compared to 6-9 months for spray applications.

How long does Fabsil Gold take to dry and cure?

Surface drying takes 2-4 hours in warm conditions, but proper curing needs 24 hours minimum before packing the tent away. Leaving it 48 hours gives better waterproofing results because the silicone treatment fully bonds with fabric fibres. Apply on a dry day and leave the tent pitched or hung up during the curing period.

Does Fabsil waterproofing stop tents breathing?

Fabsil Gold maintains fabric breathability by creating water-repellent coating at the molecular level rather than sealing the weave completely. Canvas and polycotton tents keep their natural ventilation properties after treatment, which prevents condensation build-up inside. Only apply to outer flysheets on double-skin tents, never to inner mesh panels.

Can you use Fabsil Gold on tent groundsheets?

Yes, Fabsil Gold works on polyester, nylon, and PVC-backed groundsheets to add extra water resistance along seams and worn areas. Focus treatment on the edges where groundsheets typically leak first and any patches where the waterproof coating has abraded away. For separate footprint groundsheets, treat the underside that contacts wet ground.

How often should you reapply Fabsil to a tent?

Most tents need retreating every 12-18 months with regular use, or when water stops beading off the fabric during rain. Canvas and polycotton materials need annual treatment because they absorb more moisture than synthetic fabrics. Tents stored damp or used in coastal areas with salt air degrade faster and might need treatment every season.
