The Clayton Power LPS II Remote provides convenient control of your LPS II system from a different location within your motorhome or campervan. This compact wall-mounted unit connects to the M12 REMOTE connector on the back of your LPS II using a 6 metre cable, letting you switch outputs on and off without accessing the main unit. The remote features three large push buttons for 230V AC output, 12V DC output, and jumpstart activation, with indicator LEDs showing charging status, output state, and battery level. The five-segment battery status display shows state of charge from 0% to 100% at a glance, whilst separate indicators show when the unit is charging from 230V AC, 12V DC, or boost charge mode.

Installation is straightforward with the included mounting bracket and screws, letting you position the remote wherever suits your layout best. The remote weighs just 300g and measures 50mm high by 75mm wide by 15mm deep, fitting neatly onto any wall surface. The M12 connector plugs directly into the designated REMOTE socket on your LPS II, with pin 2 supplying 12V power to the remote (drawing maximum 30mA during operation, 2.5mA in sleep mode). The remote operates across the same temperature range as the LPS II itself, from minus 20°C to plus 50°C, with IP21 rating matching the main unit.

The system suits anyone who mounts their LPS II in a location that's awkward to reach regularly, such as under seats, in storage lockers, or behind panels. Instead of accessing the main unit every time you need to switch outputs or activate jumpstart, you control everything from the conveniently placed remote. The LED behaviour clearly indicates system status, with green flashing showing startup, green solid confirming operation, and red flashing or solid indicating various fault conditions or empty battery states. One limitation is the 6 metre fixed cable length, so you'll need to plan remote placement during installation to ensure the cable reaches without excessive slack or tension.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the LPS II Remote control and display?
The LPS II Remote has three control buttons and multiple status indicators. The 230V button switches the AC output on and off, the 12V button controls the DC output, and the Jump Start button activates the jumpstart function to charge a depleted starter battery. The unit displays charging status through three indicators showing 230VAC charging, 12VDC charging, and 12V Boost charging. Each output button has its own LED showing operation state (green flashing for starting up, green solid for active, red flashing for faults, red solid for empty battery). A five-segment battery status display shows state of charge from 0% to 100% in 20% increments.
How do I install the LPS II Remote?
The remote comes with a mounting bracket and screws for wall installation. Choose a location within 6 metres of your LPS II unit (the cable is fixed length and cannot be extended). Connect the M12 connector to the socket marked REMOTE on the back of your LPS II unit. The M12 connector has five pins: pin 1 for single wire communication, pin 2 supplies +12V power to the remote, pin 3 is ground, and pins 4 and 5 are not used and must not be connected. The remote draws power from the LPS II through pin 2, consuming maximum 30mA during operation and 2.5mA in sleep mode. All installations should be carried out by trained and qualified installers following local regulations.
What do the different LED colours and patterns mean?
The charging indicators show green flashing when charging is active, green solid when charge is full, and red flashing for charging failure. For the 230V and 12V output buttons, green flashing means the output is starting up, green solid shows the output is active, red flashing indicates an output failure (except empty battery), and red solid specifically indicates empty battery preventing output. The Jump Start button shows green flashing whilst charging the starter battery (wait until solid), green solid when ready to start the vehicle, and red flashing for jumpstart failure. The five-segment battery status display provides a quick visual reference for state of charge without needing to access the main LPS II display.
Can I use the remote with all LPS II models?
Yes, the LPS II Remote works with all models in the LPS II range including the 1500, 2000, 2500, and 3000 variants. The remote connects to the M12 connector marked REMOTE on the back of any LPS II unit. The remote can be used with several Clayton Power products but is primarily designed for the LPS II range. The communication protocol uses single wire communication at 9600 baud with signals ranging from 0-12V. The supply voltage range of 10.5V to 24V means the remote works with both 12V and 24V systems. All features including output control, status monitoring, and jumpstart activation function identically across all compatible LPS II models.
What are the physical specifications and environmental ratings?
The remote weighs 300g and measures 50mm high by 75mm wide by 15mm deep, making it compact enough to mount in tight spaces. The IP21 rating matches the main LPS II unit, meaning the remote is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and vertically falling water drops. Operating temperature range spans minus 20°C to plus 50°C, covering all typical motorhome and campervan conditions. Storage temperature range is also minus 20°C to plus 50°C. The unit meets Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, EMC 2014/30/EU, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, and has E-Marking certification under UN-ECE Regulation 10. The remote requires minimal power, drawing maximum 30mA during operation and just 2.5mA in sleep mode.
Can the 6 metre cable be extended or shortened?
The 6 metre cable is fixed length and comes permanently attached to the remote. You cannot extend or shorten this cable without affecting the warranty and potentially causing communication issues. When planning your installation, ensure you position the remote within 6 metres of the LPS II unit. If you have excessive cable length, coil the surplus neatly and secure it away from moving parts and heat sources. Route the cable the shortest way possible, keeping it away from sharp edges, moving components, and high-temperature areas. When passing through panels or bulkheads, use rubber grommets to protect the cable from chafing. The M12 connector at the end of the cable plugs into the dedicated REMOTE socket on the LPS II.
How does the jumpstart function work from the remote?
Press the Jump Start button to activate the jumpstart function. The LED will flash green whilst the LPS II charges the starter battery (this takes up to 5 minutes). Wait until the LED turns solid green, indicating the jumpstart is ready and you can now start your vehicle. If the LED flashes red, this indicates a jumpstart failure - check the LPS II display for error codes. The jumpstart function delivers 40A to the starter battery for 5 minutes (25A for 5 minutes on the LPS II 1500 model). The LPS II must already be connected to your starter battery via the DC IN terminals for the jumpstart function to work. This feature is particularly useful in cold weather or after extended periods without driving when the starter battery has self-discharged.
What is included in the LPS II Remote package?
The package includes the LPS II Remote unit with permanently attached 6 metre cable and M12 connector, one mounting bracket with screws for wall installation, and the instruction manual. The remote weighs 300g and the compact dimensions of 50 x 75 x 15mm make it easy to mount in various locations. The mounting bracket allows secure installation on any flat surface within reach of the 6 metre cable. The M12 connector is already assembled and ready to plug into the REMOTE socket on your LPS II unit. No additional cables, connectors, or installation hardware need to be purchased separately. The remote is powered by the LPS II through the M12 connection, so no separate power supply or batteries are required.
Does the remote drain the LPS II battery when not in use?
The remote has very low power consumption, drawing maximum 30mA during active operation and just 2.5mA in sleep mode. The sleep mode consumption of 2.5mA is negligible and will not significantly drain your LPS II battery during storage or periods of non-use. Over a 24-hour period, the sleep mode consumption equals approximately 0.06Ah, meaning even over a month of inactivity the remote draws less than 2Ah from the battery. The remote is powered through pin 2 of the M12 connector, which supplies between 10.5V and 24V depending on your system. The remote automatically enters sleep mode when not actively being used, minimising power consumption whilst maintaining the ability to wake quickly when you press a button.
What warranty coverage does the LPS II Remote have?
The LPS II Remote is covered by a 24-month warranty from delivery date against significant defects in design, material, and execution. The warranty does not cover defects caused by ordinary wear and tear, improper storage or installation against instructions, repairs or modifications by unauthorised parties, or other conditions beyond Clayton Power's responsibility. To obtain warranty service, contact the store where you purchased the remote and provide your sales receipt, device model number (LPS II Remote), device serial number, and a description of the problem. Obtain an authorisation number from the dealer before shipping. The customer covers shipping costs to Clayton Power, whilst Clayton Power covers return shipping costs only if the defects are covered under warranty. Improper installation or use will void the warranty.
