8 FAQs on the Truma / Carver Auto igniter box only - for Trumatic S3002/S3004 & S5002/S5004

hi tom is it normal for the ignition to stay on on a truma s5002 heater after the main burners are lit mine stays on all the time
No, the igniter should cut our once the flame is lit. It is likely that you have a faulty igniter. Our ref. 228051
I have replaced the battery for my caravan's Truma heater; it lights the fire but when turned off the igniter continually clicks; please can you advise?
This either a problem with the igniter box itself or a problem with the microswitch in the gas valve. There is a brown and black wire that connects the gas valve to the igniter and these wires can be unplugged from the igniter. If when unplugged you still have the problem then you will need to replace the igniter box, our ref. 128051. If however the sparking stops when you unplug the wires then you will need to replace the microswitch and this is a workshop job as gas connections need to be broken.
I have a truma 3002 ultraheat fire ,after lighting the gas fire the ignition keeps on sparking but the fire can be adjusted and the controlled, can you please solve this for me. Barry
You have a problem with the igniter box which almost certainly needs replacing. Our ref. 128051.
Good day. Having problems with non functioning automatic igniter in S3002/S heater, have read your replies to similar queries. Battery OK. Wise initially to perhaps change the igniter box if so do you stock them and ? price. Look forward to hearing from you, Alan Seaton.
If you are getting no 'clicking' from the igniter then it could be a faulty igniter or perhaps a faulty switch in the gas valve. To check if the switch is faulty disconnect the brown and black wires from the igniter and connect the two terminals together. If the igniter starts clicking then the switch is the problem. If not then replace the igniter.
The igniter is our part 128051 at £50.99.
Truma ultra heat fire, works fine but the piezo ignition is constantly clicking once it has warmed up. The fire is used a lot. What do I need? Many thanks Kevin ex mechanic
I assume that you have the automatic igniter box fitted to your fire which can be the problem if the ignition is constantly clicking. Alternatively the ignition electrode could be at fault. Easiest to change the igniter box first as the fire has to be removed to change the electrode.
My truma heater has auto ign and its not working can can you supply me with a new one it has a battery in it bottom left of heater. s3002- s5002 I believe. please email me back and i will buy it , I cant open your parts list.
The part that you require is our part 128051. please telephone to order.
Hi, Truma S3002 piezo igniter is continually sparking even when not being used .Will only stop when battery is removed hope you can help
This problem can have two causes. Firstly the igniter itself could be faulty. Secondly the switch in the gas valve, that is 'made' when the knob is depressed, may have gone 'short circuit'. There is a thin brown and black wire that leads from the switch to the igniter. If you unplug this from the igniter and the clicking continues then it is a problem with the igniter. If the clicking stops then the switch is the problem. (not easy to replace).
I have a Trumatic S3002 heater with auto igniter, on Saturday the igniter stopped (no clicking noise), replacing the battery did not make any difference. I tried it many times Saturday and Sunday but without success, this morning I tried again and it worked but with quite a limp sounding click. Which part usually fails ? Thanks
First try another battery, the one that you have fitted may be faulty - best to use a duracell or equivalent. If the problem persists then there is probably a fault with the igniter itself or these may be some debris or condensation on the gas burner preventing the igniter's path to earth which creates the spark.

Igniter Box For Truma Heater

by Lorraine Milford (10 May 2019)
5 star review(5/5)
Thanks to the internet, I determined the igniter box for the Truma heater needed replacing, in a hurry. Leisure shop direct could meet the deadline. I was kept informed of the order progress, the igniter arrived in time for me to fit it. This replacement one is slightly better than the original, inasmuch there is sliding cover over the battery (which I did not even know was there!). Works perfectly.

When we lit our gas fire, it would continue to click unless you took the battery out. We emailed Leisureshopdirect and they were brilliant and recommended that we buy the above unit. It was delivered really quickly, installed really easily and no more clicking when the heating is on. Really pleased.
