  Product Description
The Crusader 21mm clip-on butane regulator with manometer is built specifically for quick and easy fitting to any butane cylinder with a 21mm valve, making it ideal for everything from garden gatherings to caravan trips. This regulator suits a range of low-pressure appliances including cabinet heaters, boiling rings, barbeques and camping stoves. The 30mbar outlet pressure and 1kg/hr flow rate deliver consistent gas supply whatever your chosen appliance, whilst the 5/16 inch hose nozzle connects to standard 8mm gas hose found across caravans, motorhomes and portable camping equipment.

What sets this regulator apart for safety-conscious users is the combination of an integrated manometer and an Excess Flow Valve (EFV). The manometer lets you monitor gas levels at a glance and check for leaks by observing whether pressure holds steady over ten minutes. The EFV automatically shuts off gas flow if a significant leak occurs, whether that's a ruptured hose or a loose connection. This dual-safety approach means you get real-time feedback about your gas system's condition whilst enjoying automatic protection against dangerous gas loss.

The regulator's user-friendly design makes setup straightforward. You simply press the clip onto your cylinder valve until it locks, connect your hose, turn the on/off lever and you're ready to operate your appliance. It's EN 16129 safety certified, confirming it meets European standards for reliable performance. One consideration worth noting is that this remains a single-stage regulator, so it works best with one appliance connected at a time. For caravans or motorhomes running multiple appliances simultaneously, you'd need a more sophisticated multi-stage distribution system.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Excess Flow Valve and why does it matter?
An Excess Flow Valve (EFV) is a safety device that automatically cuts off gas supply when flow rate exceeds safe levels. This happens if your hose ruptures, cracks, or disconnects from the regulator or appliance. The EFV detects this abnormal flow and shuts the valve, preventing dangerous uncontrolled gas release. It's a passive safety feature that works automatically without requiring any action from you, providing critical protection during camping trips or garden use.
Which low-pressure appliances work with this regulator?
This 30mbar regulator is designed for low-pressure appliances including cabinet heaters, boiling rings, portable barbeques and camping stoves. It's not suitable for higher-pressure appliances or cooking equipment requiring different pressure settings. The 1kg/hr flow capacity is sufficient for single-appliance operation. Always check your appliance manual to confirm the required pressure rating before connecting this regulator.
How does the manometer help me monitor gas safely?
The manometer displays real-time pressure readings so you can see how much gas remains in your cylinder and whether your system is operating normally. To check for leaks, close your appliance valve and leave the cylinder valve open. Watch the manometer needle for ten minutes. If it drops, you have a leak somewhere in your hose, connections or appliance that needs finding and fixing before use. A stable reading means your system is safe to operate.
Can I use this regulator with both 7kg and 15kg Calor cylinders?
Yes, the 21mm clip-on connection fits both Calor 7kg and 15kg butane cylinders. The regulator operates at the same 30mbar pressure regardless of cylinder size, so performance remains consistent. The key difference between cylinder sizes is how long the gas supply lasts before needing replacement. With the 1kg/hr flow rate, a 7kg cylinder runs approximately seven hours at continuous full flow, whilst a 15kg cylinder runs roughly fifteen hours.
How do I install and use this regulator correctly?
Make sure the on/off lever is turned to OFF (clockwise to 3 o'clock). Remove the protective cap from your Calor cylinder valve. Position the regulator clip over the valve and press down firmly until you hear and feel a solid click, confirming the collar has locked securely around the valve. Connect your 8mm hose to the 5/16 inch outlet nozzle. Check all connections are tight. Turn the lever to ON (anti-clockwise to 12 o'clock) to supply gas. Always perform a leak check on your first connection by applying soapy water around all joints and looking for bubbles.
