The Alde 12V Vortex inline circulation pump (part number 3010-522) mounts directly onto the side of your Alde Compact boiler and circulates heated glycol fluid throughout your caravan or motorhome's heating system. This pump draws between 0.25 and 1.6 amps from your 12V leisure battery and connects via 22mm diameter fittings. It's compatible with Alde Compact 3010, 3020 HE, and 3030 boiler models. The pump features a Vortex motor specifically engineered for hydronic heating systems, with noise-reducing composite construction and integral overheat protection that prevents damage during extended use. Full-time motorhome owners and year-round caravanners frequently upgrade to this inline pump from older header tank pumps because it handles continuous operation better whilst remaining much quieter during night-time heating cycles.

Why upgrade from a header tank pump to an inline circulation pump?

The inline pump replaces older expansion tank pumps (2928-420 12V, 2750-405 230V, and 3010-508 12V models) and addresses the main complaints about header tank pumps: noise and durability. Mounted on the boiler and typically muffled by surrounding cabinetry, the inline pump operates almost silently compared to header tank pumps located in bedroom wardrobes. It features five selectable speeds via an adjustable dial on the motor, allowing you to set speed 2 for normal caravan use or speed 3 for motorhomes, with speeds 4-5 reserved for bleeding air from the system during maintenance. The pump's heavy-duty construction suits full-time living and extended winter trips, whilst the variable speed control lets you match flow rates to complex heating circuits or underfloor heating installations.

This replacement pump effectively handles large motorhomes, caravans with multiple heating zones, and installations requiring consistent heat distribution across extended pipe runs. It runs off your existing 12V supply without requiring mains power, making it suitable for off-grid camping whilst maintaining heating performance. The pump comes with 22mm connectors and works with both standard radiator circuits and 15mm pipe installations when fitted with appropriate adaptors. Professional installation by a Gas Safe registered engineer is required, as the installation involves connecting to the boiler's 12V supply (typically JP12 and JP10 ports), adjusting control panel settings to recognise the inline pump rather than the optional header tank pump, and bleeding the system to remove air pockets that prevent proper circulation.

1 FAQ on the Alde Inline Circulation Pump 12 V

This is just a query really. I have a 2016 Lunar Delta TS with the Alde 3020 heating system where the 12v header tank circulating pump is fitted in the wardrobe next to the head of one of the beds. Not only does it whine like a banshee it is making a clicking noise which is most annoying when you are trying to sleep, I think it probably needs to be replaced. However, can you tell me if the 230v circulating pump will fit in my system, is it difficult to install but importantly is it quieter in operation than the 12v pump fitted at present. Which by the way, in their handbook they call an emergency pump. I look forward to your reply.

The 230 V inline pump has been deprecated, and the recommended solution is now the 12 V inline pump, 256825. It is quieter than the 230 V inline pump, has variable speed, allowing it to be used for purging air, and can run from the 12 V leisure battery if off-grid. The motor is the same make as the 230 V. And it's cheaper. In short, there are only advantages to using the 12 V inline pump over the 230 V inline pump. (As an illustration, Airstream USA stopped using the 230 V inline pump in 2014, using the 12 V inline pump instead.)

Transformed Caravan Heating

My caravan previously had a header tank circulation pump which was noisy and often woke me during the night. Not only do I now have undisturbed sleep but the heating seems to be more responsive. Although expensive it was worth every penny.

An overpriced item but that’s caravans! And I could not find it cheaper than here. Much cheaper in fact than by going via the caravan club and getting a 10% discount from their supplier. It fitted fine and was used for an upgrade for a header tank pump. My 5 stars are for the service. The pump is fine but at that price would not be worth 5 stars.

Great Pump But Why No Instructions?

Bought this Inline Pump to replace the noisy Expansion Tank Circulation Pump and it works a treat. Very silent operation, just what was wanted. Unit came with NO instructions or user manual. Apparently this is 'normal' but why? It would be so much simpler with some instructions! Fitting involved removing a lot more than is shown in the video (e.g.to gain access) &, indeed, nothing shown regarding removing the wiring for the old 230V pump. Whilst you leave the old (circulation pump) in the header tank, you'll actually use the 12V connection on the boiler for this pump (use both JP12 and JP10 ports) so the old pump sits there as a spare, to be plugged back in if ever ... A huge improvement in quiet running, fitting made more complicated due to lack of instructions but so glad I've upgraded now!

The Alde inline pump is much better than the header tank pump, it is a bit fiddly to install and you have to buy additional connectors as the pump only comes with one elbow, but once working is a very much quieter pump than the header tank one in fact I would go so far as to say it was silent, excellent!!!! Also the pump sucks the heating fluid through the return COLD pipe not relying on the header tank pump filling up the header tank then gravity to circulate the fluid.

this pump was bought to replace the noisy wardrobe mounted pump. It wasn’t rocket science to swap them, and it is so quiet if set at the right setting (2) The existing header tank stays where it is. Wonderful job, it makes the caravan nicer to be in when it needs heating. Thoroughly recommended.
