Fitted easily, works as it should. Fair price for an Alde product and delivered promptly. Just a shame that caravan manufacturers don't fit this simple part !! I can understand that they wouldn't fit the batteries till van sold, but dealer should fit them at that point. A challenge getting the fascia trim off too without damage !! Just what we needed to make the Alde heating and hot water work as it was intended.

Very simple to fit and saves me setting up the timer everytime I unplug the mains/12v.
Well made however a bit keen with the price.

With the battery backup fitted the Alde controller remembers all your on off timer settings and clock . It’s simple to fit if you can get to the back of the control unit. There is a diagram provided for the different models but there is also a diagram on the rear cover of the controller. Connect the backup and fit 2 double A battery’s and that’s it. I have fitted the battery box in a small plastic enclosure as it’s mounted in an adjacent cupboard for easy access to change the battery’s. There are home made versions of this product which should work but I preferred the manufacturers unit which was about 10 more but worth it for the peace of mind and guaranteed quality.

Fitted to the Alde 3020 Control. Easy to install and saves you having to keep updating the date and time every time you turn the power off.

I bought this product rather than making one because my caravan has Manufacturer's Warranty still in force. If this is not the case for you then it would be easy to make one for much less!
Alde Timer Backup

Our new caravan came with the Alde central heating system. I like all things gadget so when programming the features I wanted to use into the controller, I was surprised that they didn’t persist – they weren’t stored. This means that if you want to set the time, and day and night modes, you will have to do this every time you restore power to your caravan. After a bit of research I discovered Alde manufacture a battery backup system. This plugs into the back of the panel and gives you the facility to connect two AA batteries thereby allowing the panel to store any timer settings you have programmed into it. In my case it was a little awkward to fit as there were loads of wires and cables stuffed into the space behind the panel. A bit of poking and prodding got the unit connected and the rear cover back onto the panel. I now have the ability to store the time settings and programmed functions, but am a little disappointed that this wasn’t supplied as standard on a £35K caravan!

Good add on as now stores settings and clock , very easy to install
Would have thought Alde would have considered how to secure it to the vehicle. I have just placed it on a support behind the panel

Following problems with another supplier I turned to Leisureshopdirect. The Alde battery back up came on time and was very easy to fit. It now saves me having to reset the time on the Alde control panel every time I start the Motorhome engine.

Shame this wasn't fitted as standard, relatively easy to fit although the enclosed destructions didn't apply to my circuit board but it was apparent where to plug it in. Removing front cover was wee bit fiddly and ended up using old credit card to gently lever it off. I used velcro to attach unit just inside panel for ease of access when batteries need changing.
