The Robens Klondike S is a 4 man polycotton bell tent for couples and small groups who want the Klondike's stove-ready interior in a more compact size. Its HydroTex Polycotton flysheet, 65% polyester and 35% cotton, breathes well in warm weather and cuts condensation when temperatures fall. The 210T Oxford polyester groundsheet has a 10,000mm hydrostatic head.

Like the bigger Klondike, the groundsheet unzips to the centre pole and folds back for an add-on tent stove or a muddy boot area. A front door A-frame keeps rain off the entrance, and mesh in the primary door lets air through while keeping bugs out. Adjustable apex ventilation, controlled from inside, works with side wall vents to move air through the tent. A lantern hanging point sits at the apex, and a flysheet fabric repair patch comes provided.

Pitched, the Klondike S covers 305 x 290 cm with 215 cm of height at the peak. One aluminium centre pole and a 22 mm A-frame pitch it in around 9 minutes. It packs down to 79 x 24 cm and weighs 13.1kg. Robens wind tested the Klondike S to 149km/h.

Groups of up to six who want more floor room and greater standing height pick the regular Klondike. It covers 390 x 370 cm with 270 cm at the peak. The Klondike S is for couples and smaller groups of up to four who want each Klondike feature, from the stove-ready groundsheet to the apex vent control, in a lighter package.

How does the Robens Klondike S compare to the standard Klondike?

The Klondike S sleeps four on a 305 x 290 cm footprint at 215 cm high and weighs 13.1kg. The regular Klondike sleeps six on a 390 x 370 cm footprint at 270 cm high and weighs 16.7kg. Both have a zip-off groundsheet for stove use, an A-frame entrance and adjustable apex ventilation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Robens Klondike S?
Pitched, it measures 305 cm long, 290 cm wide and 215 cm high at the centre pole. Inside there is one bedroom with a zip-off groundsheet and a lantern hanging point. It weighs 13.1kg and packs to 79 x 24 cm.
Should I choose the Klondike S or the standard Klondike?
The Klondike S sleeps four on a 305 x 290 cm footprint at 215 cm high, weighs 13.1kg and pitches in 9 minutes. The standard Klondike sleeps six on 390 x 370 cm at 270 cm high, weighs 16.7kg and pitches in 11 minutes. Both have the same stove-ready groundsheet and apex vent control.
Is the Klondike S stove compatible?
Yes. The groundsheet unzips to the centre pole and folds back, leaving a bare ground area for an optional tent stove or a place for muddy boots. When fully zipped the groundsheet seals the floor with a 10,000mm hydrostatic head.
How long does the Klondike S take to pitch?
Robens gives a pitching time of 9 minutes, with the tent ready to move into at 7 minutes. It goes up on one aluminium centre pole and a 22 mm A-frame, with the inner and flysheet pitching in one.
Is the Robens Klondike S waterproof?
The flysheet is HydroTex Polycotton, 65% polyester and 35% cotton. In rain the cotton fibres swell to tighten the weave and form a waterproof seal, and the 210T Oxford polyester groundsheet has a 10,000mm hydrostatic head.
Does the Klondike S need weathering?
Robens says weathering is not strictly required with HydroTex Polycotton, but recommends it after purchase and after long storage. Soak the flysheet with a garden hose, let it dry fully, and repeat a couple of times to tighten the weave.
How is the Klondike S ventilated?
Adjustable apex ventilation, worked from inside, combines with side wall vents and mesh in the main door to move air through the tent. The system is the same Internal Apex Vent Control used across the Klondike series.
How wind resistant is the Robens Klondike S?
Robens wind tested the Klondike S to 149 km/h. The aluminium centre pole is anodised at 30.8 to 52 mm, and a 22 mm A-frame supports the front entrance. Reflective guylines hold the tent in place.

Hydrostatic Head (mm)10000The hydrostatic head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! A tent needs to have at least 1000mm HH for light showers, heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and would therefore require a higher HH of 2000mm. Anything higher than this figure means it can keep out water being pushed through by someone leaning against it for example.
MaterialPolycottonMost tents are made from different denier polyester, which is a lightweight, very waterproof material. Polycotton is a heavier fabric, that breathes well allowing campers to stay cooler in sunnier climates. It is also very good at reducting condensation inside the tent.
Persons4Tent berth indicates how many people your tent can accommodate for sleeping. The industry standard allocates about 60cm of width per occupant, though exact dimensions can vary by manufacturer. If you prefer extra elbow room, you may want a tent berth larger than your headcount. Many campers size up by one or two berths to improve comfort on longer trips.
Pole constructionAluminiumThis is whether the poles are inflatable (air) or rigid (e.g - fibreglass / steel or aluminium).
Porch AreaNoA porch area gives campers a lot of extra room, that can be used as a wet zone (drying off before entering the main living space), storage of all your outside gear overnight, or as a place to cook and dine or a great area for your family dog to sleep. It adds a lot of versatility to your camping lifestyle.
Weight (kg)13.10This is the weight of the tent in kg.
Wing AreaNoAn additional wing area can be very useful as it can be used as an extra bedroom area, storage of toys and camping equipment or as a place to put a comfy inflatable sofa, so you can sit back and read your favourite book. Alternatively, it is an ideal spot for the family dog to sleep.
