The Vango Sierra TC 300 brings polycotton camping to families and couples who want proper headroom and a tent that handles British weather naturally. Built with Sentinel TC fabric (a cotton-polyester blend), it breathes better than synthetic tents while keeping condensation under control. The living area offers full standing height with villa-style upright walls, and the pre-attached front extension adds serious socialising space without extra setup time. Two king-sized bedrooms use Lightsout fabric to block early sunrise, with a toggled divider you can remove to create one large sleeping area.

PowerLite 7001-T6 alloy poles support the structure, reinforced by Vango's TBS II tension band system that braces the frame at three points when winds pick up. The fully sewn-in groundsheet keeps draughts and insects out, while AirZone ventilation (high and low level panels) creates airflow that reduces moisture buildup. Front doors roll back completely with large mesh panels, and drop-down door steps make it easier to get prams or wheelchairs in and out. SkyTrack II hanging points let you position lights and storage exactly where you need them.

The tent packs a cable entry point with tidies in the living area, plus a separate bedroom cable opening for charging devices overnight. Diamond clear windows brighten the interior without sacrificing privacy, and adjustable rear ventilation gives you control over airflow. High-visibility guylines fade from tent colour to bright orange so you can spot them after dark. The extra-large carry bag offers 50% more packing space than standard versions—perfect for stowing your tent quickly, even when it’s damp after a rainy night. Made from premium polycotton, this tent rewards a little extra care with superb breathability and all-season comfort. Polycotton naturally regulates temperature, keeping you cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold, while the thicker fabric creates a quieter, more peaceful atmosphere when the rain starts to fall.

Vango Sierra TC 300 Tent Features

  • Sentinel TC Fabric - Quality and durable fabric which combines the leading properties of both cotton and polyester to create a rich polycotton fabric. Sentinel TC is breathable and climate controlling helping to keep the tent cooler when the weather is hot, and warmer in cold conditions
  • PowerLite 7001-T6 Alloy Poles - Lightweight, compact and durable
  • Lights-Out® Bedrooms - Helps reduce early morning light so your sleeping pattern doesn't need to be dictated by the sunrise, while providing a 70cm sleeping area per person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does TC fabric mean on the Vango Sierra TC 300?
TC stands for Technical Cotton, which is Vango's name for their polycotton blend. The Sierra TC 300 uses Sentinel TC fabric that combines cotton and polyester fibres. This creates a breathable material that regulates temperature better than pure synthetic fabrics. The cotton content allows moisture to pass through the weave, reducing condensation inside the tent, while the polyester adds durability and reduces weight compared to pure canvas.
How do you look after a polycotton tent like the Sierra TC 300?
Polycotton tents need drying out completely before storage to prevent mould growth on the cotton fibres. If you pack the Sierra TC 300 away damp, set it up again within 48 hours to dry it properly. Clean the fabric with cold water and a soft brush, avoiding detergents that can damage the waterproof treatment. Store it loosely in a dry space rather than compressed in the carry bag long-term. The cotton content makes it heavier than synthetic tents and it takes longer to dry after rain.
What is the standing height in the Vango Sierra TC 300 living area?
The Sierra TC 300 features villa construction with upright side walls that maximise internal height throughout the living space. While Vango doesn't publish exact peak height measurements for this model, the villa design means you get full standing height across most of the living area rather than just at the centre point. The pre-attached front extension also maintains standing height, giving you extended space for moving around comfortably.
How does the Lightsout bedroom fabric work in the Sierra TC 300?
Lightsout bedrooms use darkened fabric with a special coating that blocks early morning sunlight. The Sierra TC 300 has two king-sized Lightsout bedrooms that reduce light transmission significantly compared to standard tent fabric. This helps you sleep past sunrise during summer camping when daylight starts around 5am. The bedrooms still allow some light through (they're not blackout), but the reduction is noticeable. Each bedroom provides 70cm width per person sleeping space.
Can you connect the bedroom divider in different positions on the Sierra TC 300?
The toggled inner divider in the Sierra TC 300 splits the sleeping area into two separate bedrooms for privacy. You can remove it completely to create one large master bedroom, but it doesn't adjust to different positions along the width. The toggles allow quick removal and refitting without threading poles or clips. When removed, you get a king-sized double bedroom with the combined space of both sleeping compartments.
What does the TBS II tension band system do on the Sierra TC 300?
The TBS II (Tension Band System) braces the tent poles at three points to reduce sideways movement in strong winds. When you tension the bands on the Sierra TC 300, they lock the pole structure more firmly, stopping the flex that can stress seams and guy points. You adjust the bands to remove slack without over-tensioning, which could bend the PowerLite alloy poles. In calm conditions you can stow the bands away. This is Vango's patented system (EP1905927) designed for British weather where wind direction changes frequently.
Does the Sierra TC 300 need waterproofing treatment?
The Sentinel TC fabric comes with factory waterproofing applied to the polyester component of the blend. Over time and with UV exposure, this treatment can degrade. You can re-proof polycotton tents using products designed for cotton-blend fabrics, applied after cleaning. The cotton fibres naturally swell when wet, which closes gaps in the weave and improves water resistance. First-time setup in rain helps this weathering process. Avoid touching the inside of wet fabric as this breaks surface tension and can cause leaking at contact points.
How does the SkyTrack II system work in the Vango Sierra TC 300?
SkyTrack II is a flexible hanging rail system sewn into the ceiling of the Sierra TC 300 living area. You slide clips or hooks along the track to position lights, storage pockets, or organisers exactly where you want them. The track accepts standard Vango accessories designed for the system, and you can move things around without making new holes or attachments. It runs along the roof line giving you multiple hanging points across the width of the tent.
What is the pack size and weight of the Sierra TC 300?
Vango doesn't publish specific pack dimensions or total weight for the Sierra TC 300 in their standard specifications. Polycotton tents are considerably heavier than equivalent synthetic models because of the cotton content in the fabric. The Sierra TC 300 comes with an Easy Pack carry bag that uses 50% more volume than standard bags, which acknowledges the bulkier nature of TC material. The extra bag space helps when packing a damp tent or managing the thicker fabric during takedown.
Can you pitch the Sierra TC 300 on uneven ground?
The adjustable pegging system on the Sierra TC 300 lets you compensate for slight ground variations by changing peg positions and guy line lengths. You can level the pre-attached front extension more effectively than fixed designs. The drop-down door steps adjust to different ground heights at entrance points. You still need relatively level ground for the bedroom area to sleep comfortably, but the adjustment system handles gentle slopes and bumps better than tents with fixed peg points. The PowerLite poles can flex to accommodate minor unevenness without stressing joints.
