  Product Description
The Boxio Bio Bags are compostable bin liners designed specifically for the BOXIO separation toilet. Each roll contains 25 tear-resistant bags made from PBAT, PLA and corn starch, so they're fully certified compostable and produced from renewable raw materials. The bags hold up to 10 litres and are sized to fit the solids container of the BOXIO TOILET perfectly, making waste disposal clean, straightforward and genuinely low-impact.

Are Boxio Bio Bags suitable for van life and camping separation toilets?

Yes, Boxio Bio Bags are made specifically for the BOXIO separation toilet's solids container. Each bag holds 10 litres, fits the container without adjustment, and is certified compostable. Made from PBAT, PLA and corn starch, they're a direct like-for-like replacement for anyone already using the BOXIO TOILET system in a van, motorhome or camper.

These bags take the hassle out of solid waste management on the road. The tear-resistant material means you're not dealing with splits or spills when removing and tying off a used bag. One roll gives you 25 uses, which adds up to a solid supply for a week-long trip or longer depending on how many people are using the toilet.

Disposal is straightforward too. The certified compostability means the bags break down properly rather than sitting in landfill. At home, solid waste from these bags goes into a compost heap with appropriate time to break down before use. On the road, well-sealed bags go into residual waste in the same way you'd dispose of a nappy. The whole system is built around making off-grid sanitation practical without compromising on environmental responsibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Boxio Bio Bags genuinely compostable or just biodegradable?
Boxio Bio Bags carry certified compostability, which is a higher standard than biodegradable. They're made from PBAT, PLA and corn starch, all of which are renewable raw materials. Certified compostability means the bags meet defined standards for breaking down fully within a specific timeframe, unlike general biodegradable bags which have no regulated breakdown period.
Will Boxio Bio Bags fit other separation toilets or only the BOXIO TOILET?
Boxio Bio Bags are designed and sized specifically for the solids container of the BOXIO TOILET. With a 10-litre capacity and dimensions of 11 cm wide by 5 cm deep, they're sized to drop straight into the BOXIO solids container without folding or adjustment. They're not marketed as a universal fit for other separation toilet brands.
How do you dispose of a used Boxio Bio Bag when camping or travelling?
When travelling, a used Boxio Bio Bag, tied securely, goes into residual waste in the same way a nappy would be disposed of. At home or on a site with composting facilities, the contents and bag together go into a compost system, though sufficient composting time is needed before the resulting material goes back to soil. Urine is handled separately via the BOXIO canister and does not go into the Bio Bag.
How many bags does one roll of Boxio Bio Bags contain and how long does a roll last?
Each roll of Boxio Bio Bags contains 25 compostable bin liners. Since the BOXIO TOILET's solids container lasts for roughly 8 to 10 toilet uses per bag before needing to be changed, a single roll of 25 bags gives a solo traveller a substantial supply for extended trips. A couple travelling together would use bags more frequently and get through a roll faster.
What materials are Boxio Bio Bags made from?
Boxio Bio Bags are made from PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate), PLA (polylactic acid) and corn starch. All three are plant-derived or bio-based materials rather than conventional petroleum-based plastics. This combination gives the bags their tear resistance while retaining the ability to break down in certified composting conditions.
