The Sterling Portable Battery Charger 6A VS-364 uses microprocessor control to deliver intelligent 5-stage charging for your motorhome or caravan leisure battery. This isn't a basic trickle charger - it actively manages the entire charging cycle through bulk, absorption, float, maintenance and desulphation stages to keep your battery in optimal condition. The unit works with wet, gel, AGM and maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, automatically adjusting its approach based on battery condition. The 6 amp output provides a sensible charging rate that's gentle enough for long-term connection whilst being powerful enough to recover deeply discharged batteries.

Storage over winter or between trips puts serious strain on leisure batteries, and this charger addresses exactly that problem. The built-in desulphation function uses pulse technology to break down the sulphate crystals that form on battery plates during discharge, extending battery life significantly. LED indicators show you exactly what's happening - charging status, completion and any faults like reverse polarity. Multiple protection systems guard against overheating, short circuits, reverse connection and voltage issues, so you can leave it connected without constant supervision. The charger works with both 6V and 12V batteries, though it's the 12V application that most caravan and motorhome owners will use.

Portability makes this charger practical for home use rather than permanent installation. The compact design includes insulated charging clips and a carrying handle, suitable for outdoor use in dry conditions with auto start-up when connected. At 6 amps, expect charging times of around 10-15 hours for a typical 80-100Ah leisure battery that's been run down to 50%. The main limitation is the lack of weatherproofing for permanent outdoor installation - this is designed for garage or storage use rather than exposed marine environments. For batteries requiring faster charging or those above 150Ah capacity, you'd need a higher amperage unit, but for standard motorhome maintenance and winter storage, the 6A output hits the sweet spot between charging speed and battery care.
