  Product Description
The Vango Quadris Air Low is a driveaway awning that uses AirBeam technology instead of traditional poles. You inflate the beams with the included pump, which gets the structure up in minutes without wrestling with fibreglass sections. The sewn-in groundsheet stays attached to the flysheet, keeping draughts and insects out while an external storm skirt wraps around the base for proper weather protection. Three large window panels run along the front. You can keep them closed when the weather's rough or zip them open completely on decent days. The Sentinel Active 150D fabric holds a 4000mm hydrostatic head rating and comes treated with ColourLok Eco technology to stop UV rays fading the material as quickly.

Attachment works with most campervans and motorhomes because Vango includes multiple fixing options in the box. There's 6mm kador beading pre-attached to the tunnel, 8-metre over-vehicle straps, roof bar tabs, and a sleeve for pole and clamp systems. The roll-away tunnel design means you detach from your vehicle by rolling back the connecting section and securing it with toggles, leaving the main awning standing while you drive off. Two doors in the tunnel section let you access either end of your vehicle. The front door has a mesh screen fitted so you can leave it open for airflow without inviting midges inside. SkyTrack II runs along the interior ceiling - it's a flexible rail system where you clip lights or hanging storage wherever you need them.

The pre-angled beams curve outwards to create more internal space while improving wind stability compared to straight vertical tubes. Adjustable pegging points help when you're on uneven ground - you can tweak the guy line positions to get proper tension even if the pitch isn't level. Key pegging points are marked orange so you know which ones to do first for getting the shape right. King pole eyelets on the front door let you prop it open as a canopy if you've got spare uprights with you. Designed for touring adventures, this awning is perfect for travellers who move between sites and enjoy flexibility on the road. How long does it take to pitch the Vango Quadris Air Low?
Most people get the Quadris Air Low pitched in 10-15 minutes once they've done it a couple of times. The AirBeam system means you're inflating tubes rather than threading poles through sleeves. Peg out the main footprint first using the orange-marked points, then inflate the beams with the included pump until the pressure gauge shows correct inflation. After that it's just attaching guy lines and tensioning everything properly.
What's the actual connection height on the Quadris Air Low?
The Quadris Air Low is designed for campervans and motorhomes with lower rooflines or awning rails positioned below standard height. The kador beading that slides into your vehicle's awning rail sits at a reduced height compared to Vango's standard Quadris model. Check your vehicle's rail height before ordering - if your awning rail sits above around 240cm you might need the standard height version instead.
Will the Quadris Air Low fit a VW Transporter or similar panel van conversion?
Yes, the Low version is specifically suited to panel van conversions like Transporters, Vivaro, Transit Custom and similar vehicles where the awning rail sits lower than factory-fitted motorhomes. The multiple attachment methods included work with aftermarket awning rails commonly fitted to these conversions. If your van has a pop-top roof, check the rail height when the roof is deployed - you need enough clearance for the kador to slide in without tension on the fabric.
What size footprint does the Quadris Air Low need when pitched?
You'll need to account for the depth of the awning extending from your vehicle plus guy line space around the sides and back. The main structure projects out from your vehicle, then you need approximately 1-1.5 metres beyond the awning fabric for pegging out guy lines properly. When booking pitches, check if the site measures pitch space from your vehicle or includes the awning in total width calculations - some sites restrict awning sizes on smaller pitches.
How do you maintain correct pressure in the AirBeams?
The beams can lose a small amount of pressure naturally over several days, especially with temperature changes between day and night. Check the beams by pressing them firmly - they should feel solid without excessive give. The included pump has a pressure gauge so you can top up individual beams if needed without over-inflating. In hot weather the beams may actually gain pressure as the air inside expands, though Vango's valves have pressure relief to prevent damage.
What additions work with the Quadris Air Low?
Vango produces specific additions for the Quadris range including side sleeping annexes, front canopy extensions, and fitted carpets. Not all additions made for standard Vango awnings will fit the Quadris Air Low correctly due to its specific dimensions and beam configuration. Check compatibility charts before purchasing additions - the connection points and measurements need to match exactly or you'll have gaps or excess material that won't peg out properly.
Can the sewn-in groundsheet be removed?
No, the groundsheet is permanently attached to the flysheet with the storm skirt sealed around the base perimeter. This design creates better weather protection by eliminating the gap between groundsheet and walls where draughts and water can enter. If you need to pitch on hardstanding where pegging through a groundsheet isn't allowed, you'd need to use the awning without pegging the groundsheet edges, though this reduces stability significantly.
How does the Quadris Air Low perform in strong wind?
The pre-angled beam design gives better wind stability than older straight-tube designs by creating a more aerodynamic profile. That said, any driveaway awning has more wind exposure than a tent because one side stays open to attach to your vehicle. In genuinely strong wind you should drop the front canopy if it's deployed, check all guy line tensions, and consider partially deflating the beams slightly to reduce rigidity - this lets the structure flex rather than fighting against gusts. If wind is forecast above 30mph, most experienced users pack the awning away rather than risk damage.
What's the packed size and weight of the Quadris Air Low?
The oversized carry bag helps with packing but the complete awning still takes up significant space compared to a weekend tent. You're looking at a bag roughly 80-90cm long and 30-40cm diameter when packed, though this varies depending on how tightly you can fold everything. Weight sits around 20-25kg with all components, pegs, and pump included. It's manageable for two people to lift but awkward for one person to carry any distance from vehicle to storage.
