Vango Faros III Air driveaway awnings use AirBeam technology for 8-minute inflation. 150D Sentinel Active fabric (4000mm HH) with ColourLok Eco treatment. Available in Low and Mid heights (both 205cm peak). Roll-away tunnel with two access doors, sewn-in

The Vango Faros III Air driveaway awning range delivers proper extra living space for campervans and motorhomes without dominating your pitch or filling your vehicle with bulky poles. Built around AirBeam technology refined over a decade, these awnings inflate in approximately 8 minutes using the included ergonomic pump with built-in pressure dial. The 150D Sentinel Active fabric carries a 4,000mm hydrostatic head rating with ColourLok Eco treatment that prevents fading under prolonged sun exposure whilst handling British weather reliably. Available in Low and Mid height configurations to suit different vehicle profiles, both models feature sewn-in groundsheets that create sealed environments keeping insects and draughts out completely. Diamond Clear windows maximise natural light without creating a greenhouse effect, whilst mesh front doors provide ventilation without inviting midges inside.

What makes these awnings genuinely useful for regular tourers is the roll-away connecting tunnel that detaches using toggles when you drive off for the day, leaving the main awning freestanding until you return and reconnect. The tunnel features two access doors so you can reach either end of your vehicle without walking around outside or climbing through the main living area. Multiple vehicle attachment methods come pre-fitted: 6mm kador beading for standard awning rails, 8-metre over-vehicle straps, roof bar tabs, and a sleeve for pole-and-clamp systems, ensuring compatibility with virtually any campervan or motorhome configuration. The TBS II Tension Band System braces each AirBeam at three points to prevent sideways flex when wind picks up, and you can adjust these bands tight or stow them away depending on conditions.

Practical features include the SkyTrack II hanging system running along the interior ceiling, letting you clip lights and storage pouches wherever needed rather than fixed positions. Privacy curtains operate on simple toggles for quick adjustment between airflow and sleeping privacy. Steel pegs and a bracer pole come included, with the fibreglass pole adding structural support at the front where most driveaway awnings need it. Oversized carry bags make packing away less frustrating when you're trying to leave site at a reasonable hour. The Low version weighs 13.7kg with 205cm peak height, whilst the Mid weighs 13.8kg with identical dimensions of 275cm length and 290cm width. Both models are fully rain tested to EN ISO 5912 standards and designed specifically for touring use rather than month-long static pitches, as the fabric will naturally wear faster under constant UV exposure during extended stays.

6 FAQs on the Vango Faros III Air Driveaway Awnings | Low & Mid

Which driveaway kit do I need for my Vango Faros 3 Air Low Awning?
The rope channel on all Vango awnings is 6mm. If you are fitting directly to a Kador strip (the metal strip fixed to your van, sometimes called a Reimo rail) these almost always 6mm. You can then slide the rope channel on the awning straight into this. However, you will then not be able to driveaway. In this case you would want to get a 6mm 6mm driveaway kit.

If you are fitting it to a wind-out cassette awning from Thule, Fiamma or Dometic then these have a 4mm rail on them. In this case you will want to buy the 4mm 6mm driveaway kit.

How does the Vango Faros III Awning attach to my campervan?
The awning offers multiple attachment options to suit various vehicles and preferences. These include throw-over straps, a beading that fits into a rail, a fixing kit for a winder awning, a sleeve for a pole and clamp kit, and Velcro tabs for attaching to roof bars. This flexibility ensures a secure and adaptable fit for most vehicles.
How easy is it to set up the Vango Faros III Awning?
The awning is designed for quick and easy setup, with colour-coordinated webbing straps for clear pitching instructions. It can be pitched by one person in approximately 8 minutes. The awning features two inflation points and comes with a manual stirrup pump, utilising Vango's easy-to-use AirSpeed valve system.
What size vehicle will the Vango Faros III Low Awning fit?
The awning features a tunnel section available in a low size, ranging from 180 to 210 cm, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicles, including VW vans, which commonly fit within the 185-190 cm height range. The awning includes doors on either side of the tunnel section for easy access to the vehicle without going through the main awning area.
How does the Vango ColourLok technology work, and what are its benefits?
ColourLok technology involves dyeing the thread before it is woven into the fabric, rather than dyeing the fabric itself. This process ensures better colour retention, making the awning look sharper for longer, with a more even colour distribution. This technology is likened to a carrot's consistent colour throughout, as opposed to a radish's colour only on the outside, providing enhanced resistance to fading from UV light.
What are the key features of the Vango Faros III Driveaway Awning?
The Vango Faros III Driveaway Awning features upgraded 150 denier fabric for enhanced durability and incorporates Vango's ColourLok technology for improved colour retention. It is designed with a small and sharp profile, offering large PVC windows with toggle-up curtains for privacy, low-level ventilation to combat condensation, and a sewn-in groundsheet for added convenience. The awning provides easy pitching with colour-coordinated webbing straps and includes a manual stirrup pump with Vango's AirSpeed valve for inflation.
