Fiamma Carry-Bike Bike-Blocks | Pro 1, 2, 3, 4, D-Series & Quick Safe

Fiamma's Bike-Block Pro range is the dedicated frame-gripping system designed to hold bikes firmly against the rails of a Fiamma Carry-Bike rack while you're on the road. Every Carry-Bike ships with at least two of these blocks already included, positioned on the bike rails to clamp onto the frame tube of each bicycle. This collection covers the full range of individual Bike-Block Pro units sold as standalone parts or upgrades, including blocks numbered for each bike position (1, 2, 3, 4), the articulated D-series with longer adjustable arms, the updated S-series with its repositioned front knob, and the Quick Safe wheel security strap. Available in classic red, black, blue, grey, aluminium finish, and Deep Black colourway to match different Carry-Bike generations.

Which Fiamma Bike-Block do I need for my Carry-Bike rack?

The block number corresponds directly to the bike position on the rack: Block 1 and 3 come as standard with most Carry-Bike Pro models for two bikes, while Block 2 and 4 are needed to add a third and fourth bike respectively. The D-series suits bikes with non-standard frame geometry, and the S-series is the current updated design now fitted to new Carry-Bike Pro racks.

The classic Bike-Block Pro range (numbered 1 through 4) uses a fixed-length arm and a front-mounted quick-release clamp with a large non-scratch rubber base that grips round and oval bike frame tubes from 25mm to 100mm in diameter. The D-series blocks feature a longer, articulated adjustable arm, making them the right choice for bikes where the frame geometry creates more distance between the tube and the rail: the D1 arm adjusts from 10cm to 44.5cm, the D2 from 16cm to 63cm, and the D3 from 26cm to 80cm. The Pro S and Pro S D updates brought a repositioned thumb-knob to the front face of the clamp for easier single-handed tightening, with the same non-scratch base and 25-100mm tube compatibility. The Pro S D Aluminium version adds a curved aluminium tube for a premium finish and is designed to pair with the Deep Black Carry-Bike VW T6 Pro range. The Quick Safe strap is a separate sliding locking system that pins each bike wheel to the rail for an additional layer of retention.

Most people buying from this collection fall into one of three groups. First, there are owners who've just bought a second-hand Carry-Bike and found that one or more blocks are missing, stripped, or cracked. Second, there are owners with a new two-bike Carry-Bike Pro C or Pro who want to add a third or fourth bike and need the additional blocks and rails to do that. Third, there are Carry-Bike owners upgrading from an older aluminium-finish rack to a newer Deep Black model, who want the block colour to match. The Carry-Bike Pro C comes standard with Block 1 and 3; to carry a third bike you need Block 2 plus an additional Rail Plus 128, and to carry a fourth you also need Block 4 and another Rail Plus 128. If you're also buying rails, those are listed separately in our Fiamma Carry-Bike bike racks and spares sections.

Block selection depends on two things: the position of the bike on the rack, and the frame geometry of the bike itself. If you've got standard road bikes, hybrid bikes, or most mountain bikes with conventional tube diameters, the numbered standard Pro or Pro S series will work correctly. If you're carrying e-bikes with larger, irregular frame shapes, or bikes where the tube sits further from the rail surface, the D-series articulated arm versions provide the extra reach and flexibility to secure the frame without straining the clamp. Colourway matters too: if your Carry-Bike is a newer Deep Black model, the Pro S D series in Deep Black gives a matched finish, whereas the standard red or aluminium blocks will work functionally on any model regardless of colour.

One of the most common purchasing mistakes is ordering the wrong block number. The numbering system isn't about quality or size differences between the blocks; it's about which bike position on the rack each block was designed to seat correctly. Block 1 is for the first bike, Block 2 for the second, and so on, with each arm length calibrated for the stagger between adjacent bikes on the same rail. Buying a Block 1 for every bike position won't work, as the arms don't reach the frame tubes correctly for bikes 2, 3, and 4. The other common mistake is assuming any bike-block will handle e-bikes with larger, non-standard frames: for these, the D-series adjustable arm versions are the right option. All blocks in this collection are compatible with every Fiamma Carry-Bike model ever made, so there's no vehicle-specific compatibility issue to worry about.

How many people in the UK use bike racks on caravans and motorhomes?

47% of UK adults went on a camping or caravanning holiday in the last three years, according to Mintel's 2024 report, with over a third of campers actively choosing sites that offer cycling as an activity. The Caravan and Motorhome Club has over 1.1 million members, and the UK holiday park and campsite sector generates £12.2bn in visitor expenditure annually, making cycling-focused accessories one of the most active growth segments for leisure vehicle owners.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Fiamma Bike-Block Pro 1, 2, 3 and 4?
The number on each Bike-Block Pro refers to the bike position on the Carry-Bike rail, not a quality or size ranking. Block 1 is the shortest arm and sits closest to the vehicle, holding the first bike. Block 3 is slightly longer and holds the second bike on the same rail. Blocks 2 and 4 are needed when you add a third or fourth bike using additional Rail Plus rails. Buying the wrong number for the wrong position means the arm won't reach the bike frame correctly, so always match the block number to the bike's position on the rack.
Which Fiamma Bike-Blocks come included with my Carry-Bike rack?
Most Fiamma Carry-Bike Pro models, including the Pro C and Pro C N, come supplied as standard with a Bike-Block Pro 1 and a Bike-Block Pro 3, which together secure two bikes. Blocks 2 and 4 are not included and must be bought separately, along with an additional Rail Plus 128 for each extra bike. If you've bought a second-hand rack, check which blocks are physically present before ordering replacements, as missing a block from one position means the bike at that position cannot be secured properly.
What is the difference between Fiamma Bike-Block Pro and Bike-Block Pro S?
The Pro S is Fiamma's updated version of the standard Bike-Block Pro. The key practical difference is the position of the thumb-knob used to tighten the clamp onto the bike frame: on the Pro S, it's moved to the front face of the block, making it easier to reach and tighten with one hand. The non-scratch rubber base is also larger on the Pro S. Both versions fit the same frame tube diameters (25mm to 100mm, round or oval) and are compatible with all Fiamma Carry-Bike models. Fiamma now fits the Pro S as standard on new Carry-Bike racks, so the Pro S is generally the better choice when replacing worn or lost blocks.
When do I need a Bike-Block Pro D-series instead of the standard block?
The D-series (D1, D2, D3) have a longer articulated arm that adjusts across a much wider range than the fixed-arm standard blocks. The D1 arm reaches from 10cm to 44.5cm, the D2 from 16cm to 63cm, and the D3 from 26cm to 80cm. You'll need a D-series block when carrying a bike with an unusual frame geometry where the tube sits further from the rail than a standard block can bridge, such as e-bikes with large box-section frames, certain mountain bikes with sloping top tubes, or step-through frames where you're clamping onto the seat tube rather than a top tube. The D1 is typically used for the bike closest to the rack, the D2 for a bike on the next rail out.
How do I add a third or fourth bike to my Fiamma Carry-Bike rack?
To carry a third bike on a Carry-Bike Pro or Pro C that currently holds two, you need to add one Fiamma Rail Plus 128 and one Bike-Block Pro 2 (or Pro S 2). For a fourth bike, you need an additional Rail Plus 128 and a Bike-Block Pro 4 (or Pro S 4) on top of that. The Carry-Bike Pro range uses the Zoom-4-Bikes strengthened rail support that accepts up to four rails total, so no structural modification to the rack itself is needed. The total maximum load across all four bikes remains 60kg, so check combined bike weights before expanding to four.
Will Fiamma Bike-Blocks work with a step-through or ladies' frame bike?
Step-through frames without a top tube can be carried on a Fiamma Carry-Bike, but the standard block may struggle to reach the seat tube or down tube at the correct angle. A Bike-Block Pro D1 is the most commonly used solution, as its longer articulated arm and rotating 360-degree clamp head gives the flexibility to grip the seat tube securely even at an angle. Alternatively, Fiamma makes a Bike Frame Adapter (part 06602-01-), which bridges between the handlebar stem and seat post to replicate a standard crossbar, giving the standard block a normal tube to clamp onto. The adapter extends from 50cm to 60cm and fits all Carry-Bike models.
Are Fiamma Bike-Blocks compatible with other brands of bike carrier?
Fiamma Bike-Block Pro blocks are designed primarily for Fiamma Carry-Bike rails, which have a 28mm to 35mm diameter tube that the block's base clamp grips onto. They will work on other bike carrier rails that fall within this same diameter range. The frame clamp end, which grips the bike itself, fits round and oval bike frame tubes from 25mm to 100mm in diameter regardless of the carrier brand. In practice, most owners use Bike-Blocks on Fiamma racks, but they do function on other compatible rail systems with the same rail diameter.
What does the Fiamma Quick Safe strap do, and do I need one?
The Quick Safe strap is a sliding wheel locking system that sits on the Carry-Bike rail and holds the bike's wheel firmly in position, stopping the wheel from spinning or lifting during transit. It works in addition to the Bike-Block, which grips the frame, to provide two separate contact points securing each bike. Most Carry-Bike Pro racks now include Quick Safe straps as standard, but they wear over time and replacements are available individually. If you're finding bikes moving laterally or the wheel lifting on rough roads, fitting or replacing the Quick Safe strap is the first thing to check.
What is the difference between standard colourway and Deep Black Fiamma Bike-Blocks?
The Deep Black blocks (including the Pro S D series) are functionally identical to the standard aluminium-finish versions but are finished in an all-black colourway with red inserts to match Fiamma's newer Deep Black Carry-Bike range, particularly the VW T6 Pro Deep Black and other recent Deep Black rack models. Standard red, grey, or blue blocks work perfectly on any Carry-Bike model regardless of colour and are mechanically interchangeable. Colourway choice is purely cosmetic, though owners with newer Deep Black racks tend to prefer the matched finish.
