Aqua Clean Tabs are water purification tablets designed specifically for treating stored water in caravans, motorhomes, campervans and camping containers. Each effervescent tablet dissolves rapidly and purifies 25 litres of water using dichloroisocyanurate, an organic chlorine donor with proven disinfection capacity. The foil-wrapped packaging keeps the tablets stable for five years or longer, making them a practical solution for anyone who stores water in tanks or jerry cans between trips. These tablets are manufactured to strict specifications to deliver an accurate dose every time, which matters when you're dealing with drinking water safety.

The active formulation kills bacteria, spores, cysts, algae, fungi, protozoa and viruses that commonly contaminate stored water. This includes dangerous waterborne pathogens like Salmonella typhi, Vibrio cholerae, Shigella sonnei, Streptococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli. Midi Tabs are particularly effective against Entamoeba histolytica, the parasite responsible for amoebic dysentery. When you fill your water tank from a tap or standpipe at a campsite, you're introducing potential contaminants that can multiply in stored water, especially in warmer weather. These tablets provide maximum microbiological control and keep the water fresh throughout your stay.

While Aqua Clean Tabs handle water purification, they're not a substitute for proper tank hygiene. Your water tank and system should be periodically cleaned with a dedicated tank cleaner like Puriclean to remove biofilm and residue that builds up over time. The tablets work best when used in a clean system. They're straightforward to use - just drop the appropriate number of tablets into your tank based on its capacity, let them dissolve, and the water is treated. Caravanners and motorhomers typically use these tablets at the start of each trip or when refilling their fresh water tanks to maintain water quality for drinking, cooking and washing.

I use my motorhome for several trips of durations from a few days to a month or more from April until October. Hence, the water system stands idle for weeks at a time including in hot weather giving any bacteria present the opportunity to multiply. Having cleaned and sterilized the system for the first time with Puriclean (rather than Milton) I realised that if for the last fill up whilst away I added the appropriate number of Aqua Clean Tablets, the system would be completely sterile throughout the following idle period, thus avoiding the risk of bacterial growth.
