You wouldn't want one of these unless your old one had broken. Mine had broken, so this was just what I needed.
For a lot of faults you could replace parts, but a few bits were broken on my 12 year old cassette (blade had snapped off, lip seal was worn, screws had stripped).
This took just a few minutes to swap over and my cassette is good as new.

Had to replace my old mechanism after 7 years of regular use so quite happy to do so.
I live in my caravan all year round so this wasn't really a surprise when you think of the many times it has been used. I did repair one part of it a few years back but this is a much easier way to get your Thetford toilet back to a workable system.
I did think it was quite expensive at first but on reflection it will last for some time to come!
Fitting couldn't be any easier so a good product in all and delivery time was excellent which makes for a happy customer. Will bookmark Leisure Shop Direct for sure.

Straightforward replacement of THETFORD C-400 HOLDING TANK MECHANISM - RIGHT after watching you tube video.Causes some confusion as two separate floats for two models and correct one needs attaching.

Easy Replace For Broken Loo

I purchased a used motorhome which is 10 years old, but hardly used. On the first outing, the mechanism in the cassette tank broke. On inspection I discovered the broken part was the bit that actually seals the tank after flushing. This is a replaceable part at around £8, but I decided to renew the whole mechanism as a precaution against further breakages.
I found the 'fresh up kits' at around £90 and this replacement mech at leisure shop direct at a much better price.
The order arrived very quickly and fitting was a doddle.
I've lubricated the seals, which I probably should have done in the first case and we're good to go.
The instruction for fitting are really clear and fitting literally takes two minutes.
This C400 holding tank mechanism fits the C500 as well and comes with a spare clip for the float plus a second float for the C 500
Just make sure you get the right model for your loo though. A right hand loo has the cassette emptying door on the right hand side as you sit on the loo.

One of our cassettes is about ten years old and all its the seals were leaking. Cleaning and replacing them is unpleasant, time consuming and fairly costly. Using a new a new complete mechanism required only removing the old one, cleaning the edge groove, fixing the new float (one minute) and inserting the new mechanism. The whole process took less than five minutes and was reasonably clean. The result was a cassttee that worked as new, without any seepage.

A distress purchase but a 'must have' item so no choice. Third mechanism fitted in 4 years, evidently a common fault with this Thetford toilet. We bought a spare as it always fails when you are away from home. Easy to fit, but messy. Brilliant price and service from Leisure Shop.

I have been caravaning /camping for over 30 years and have used thetford products for all of that time with NO problems,the last two vans i have owned both had C400 tanks and BOTH MACANISMS have failed!!! they are flimsy and feeble,NOT up to thier standard in my opinion.

I am a little disappointed that this has needed replacing after three years. We usually wild camp so this represents a maximum of 200 days' use allowing for stays at campsites.<br />It appears that the blade fixing had worn; as this is the main moving part it should be more substantial or the blade itself could be replaced.<br />In all other respects the Thetford is an excellent product.
