The Olpro Hive is a poled drive-away campervan awning for campers who want a sleeping pod without giving up living space. Its six-sided living area has a 2 berth darkened sleeping pod fixed to the side, so the primary floor remains clear, and it fits regular campervans and conversions from 190cm to 220cm tall.

The pod is a darkened, oversized inner which takes a double air bed, and it's detachable when you would like to open the room up. Twin tunnel doors let you reach the van without crossing the awning, fly mesh on the entrance stops insects getting in, and five windows and six roof skylights keep the inside light, with blinds on the windows for privacy. A cable entry point lets you run power in.

Fibreglass roof poles and steel leg poles offer the Hive its shape and steadiness, and a spare bedroom pole comes with it. Olpro offers a 25 minute pitch, and as a drive-away it remains pitched while you take the van out for the day. The fabric is OLTECH® 190T ripstop with fully taped seams and a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, over a sewn-in groundsheet, with ventilation panels to let air through.

Hydrostatic Head5000The Hydrostatic Head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! An awning needs at least a 1000mmHH for light showers. Heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and therefore requires a higher HH of at least 2000mm HH. Anything higher than this will mean it can keep out water being pushed through, for example by someone leaning against it.
