View description
The Olpro Snug is a poled drive-away awning for solo campervanners and couples, and it fastens to the rear of the van instead of the side. It offers you somewhere protected to cook, sit out of the rain or keep kit, without the footprint of a full drive-away awning.

It's constructed for tailgate, barn-door and rear-access vehicles with an attachment height of 190 cm to 250cm. The tunnel has twin 4mm and 6mm beading for an awning rail, and if your van has no rail, the tunnel throw-over straps are in the bag. A door on each side of the tunnel lets you reach the rear of the vehicle without going through the living space.

The Snug is made of 150D ripstop Oxford polyester with taped seams and a 5,000mm hydrostatic head. Steel leg poles and fibreglass roof poles stand it 215cm high on a 250 x 250cm floor, over a sewn-in groundsheet, and Olpro offers a pitching time of 15 minutes. There are two doors and two windows, it weighs 11.15kg and packs down to 60 x 20 x 20cm, and pegs, guy ropes, a repair kit and a carrying bag come with it.

Campers who would rather pump than build a frame pick the Snug Breeze, the inflatable model for the same tailgate and barn-door vans, which goes up from a single inflation point. The poled Snug is for solo campervanners and couples who want somewhere protected at the back of the van to cook or sit out, in a lighter, simpler awning. It is covered by Olpro's Product Lifetime Warranty when registered with Olpro inside 30 days of buying.

Will the Olpro Snug fit a van with a tailgate or barn doors?

Yes. The Snug is constructed for tailgate, barn-door and rear-access vehicles with an attachment height of 190cm to 250cm. Its tunnel has twin 4mm and 6mm beading for an awning rail, or fastens with the throw-over straps in the bag, and has a door on each side for reaching the rear of the van.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Olpro Snug?
It measures 250cm long, 250cm wide and 215cm high, with standing room inside, two doors and two windows. It weighs 11.15kg and packs down to 60 x 20 x 20cm in its carry bag.
Should I choose the Snug or the Snug Breeze?
Choose the Snug for poles and a lighter pack: 11.15kg, packing to 60 x 20 x 20cm. The Snug Breeze raises its air beam from a single inflation point with the included manual pump, has a large canopy on the front and a cable entry point for hook-up power, and weighs 15kg. Both attach to the back of tailgate and barn-door vans from 190cm to 250cm.
How does the Snug attach to the back of my van?
The Snug attaches to the back of the van rather than the side. Its tunnel has dual 4mm and 6mm beading for an awning rail, and if your van has no rail, the tunnel throw-over straps in the bag attach it instead. Olpro's YouTube video shows the different ways to attach an awning to a van.
Which vans does the Snug fit?
Tailgate, barn-door and rear-access vehicles with an attachment height of 190cm to 250cm. Olpro lists models including the VW Transporter, Ford Transit Custom, Mazda Bongo, Mercedes Vito, Renault Trafic, Toyota Proace and Vauxhall Vivaro, so check your van opens at the back and sits within the height range.
Does the Snug stay pitched when I drive away?
Yes. The Snug is a poled drive-away awning, so it stays pitched while you take the van out, and the door on each side of the tunnel lets you reach the back of the vehicle without going through the living space.
How long does the Snug take to pitch?
Olpro gives a pitching time of 15 minutes. It stands on steel leg poles and fibreglass roof poles over a sewn-in groundsheet, and Olpro's YouTube video shows how to pitch the Snug Poled.
Is the Snug waterproof?
The 150D ripstop Oxford polyester has taped seams and a 5,000mm hydrostatic head, which Olpro explains as holding back the pressure of 5 metres of water before anything seeps through. The groundsheet is sewn in.
What warranty does the Snug have?
Olpro's Product Lifetime Warranty covers genuine manufacturing faults on qualifying new canvas products bought in 2024 or later, campervan awnings included, over the product's reasonable expected life. If you buy it from a retailer, register it with Olpro within 30 days and keep your proof of purchase.

Hydrostatic Head5000The Hydrostatic Head of a fabric indicates how well it can keep water out and how waterproof it is. The higher the number, the better! An awning needs at least a 1000mmHH for light showers. Heavy rain and driving wind will put more pressure on the fabric and therefore requires a higher HH of at least 2000mm HH. Anything higher than this will mean it can keep out water being pushed through, for example by someone leaning against it.
MaterialPolyesterIf you want to travel in warmer climates, then consider an awning made from polycotton, as it will keep you cooler and have less condensation. Polyester awnings are lighter than the polycotton, often more affordable and work perfectly in the UK climate. The roof fabrc for cassette awnings can be vinyl, which is a fully waterproof, robust material.
Pole ConstructionPoled (Fibreglass)You may be interested in an awning with inflatable air poles, which are generally much quicker to erect, but can be heavier in weight. Or, you may like a more traditional awning, a rigid construction, with poles made from either fibreglass, steel or an alloy.
Type of AwningDrive-away AwningYou are able to leave your awning standing with a driveaway awning. A standard awning you would need to take down before leaving the campsite. A cassette awning is a wind-out awning that is attached to the side of the van enclosed in a case.
Weight11.15This is how much your awning weighs, which needs to be considered if you don't want to be carrying too heavier weights during transport.
