The Vango Kela Pro Air Mid represents a solid choice for motorhome and campervan owners who want proper living space without spending ages on setup. This driveaway awning uses Vango's AirBeam technology - basically inflatable poles instead of traditional metal ones - which means you can have it standing in about 10 minutes. The pre-angled beam design isn't just for show either. It creates noticeably more headroom inside whilst providing better wind resistance than straight beams. The tunnel section connects to your vehicle using four different methods (6mm kador strip, over-vehicle straps, roof bar tabs, or a pole and clamp system), so it'll fit most campervans and motorhomes without needing extra bits. That tunnel doubles as storage space or a covered corridor between your vehicle and living area, keeping mud and rain outside where it belongs.

What makes this awning genuinely useful for touring is the driveaway function. Roll back the connecting tunnel, secure it with the toggles, and your awning stays standing whilst you drive off to explore. When you return, line up and reattach - straightforward enough once you've done it a couple of times. Inside, you get diamond-clear windows and skylight panels along the roofline, which flood the space with natural light during the day. The sewn-in groundsheet keeps insects and draughts out, whilst mesh doors provide ventilation without letting bugs in. Vango includes their SkyTrack II hanging system with 10 Skyhooks, so you can slide lights and storage pouches along internal tracks rather than faffing about with separate loops. The king pole door can be propped open as a canopy using additional poles (sold separately), giving you shelter when cooking outside.

The Sentinel Eco Pro fabric (6,000mm waterproof rating, made from recycled materials) handles British weather well enough for touring use. Worth noting though - this is designed for holidays and weekend trips, not permanent pitching. Extended UV exposure will age any touring awning faster than occasional use. Vango includes steel rock pegs, high-visibility guylines, and their TBS II tension band system, which braces the beams at three points to stop sideways movement in strong winds. The carry bag is deliberately oversized - anyone who's wrestled a damp awning into an undersized bag at 7am in drizzle will appreciate this. You can add a clip-in double bedroom if you need extra sleeping space. Cable entry points let you run electric hook-up leads inside neatly. Adjustable pegging points adapt to uneven ground, and the reflective webbing helps you spot guy lines with a torch after dark.
