Family camping events with activities for kids

It’s definitely the right time to start thinking about how you are going to entertain your kids this summer by finding great activities for kids and fun places for kids to go. But before you depart on any fun family activities or adventures, you need to check your ‘home away from home’ hasn’t suffered any winter damage. We have all been dusting down our caravans, campervans or tents, giving them a good airing and sprucing them up for the holiday season ahead. This past winter wasn’t really cold, so frost damage to taps and water tanks was minimal, but if you were one of the unlucky few then visit Leisureshopdirect’s water section to find all the Caravan accessories you will need to fix any frost damage your van has incurred. However there were a lot of windy and stormy nights, causing outside damage to caravan and motorhomes. Maybe your roof vents are now not so watertight or they were blown open and the hinges broken. Be it a small spare part you are after or a whole rooflight replacement, Leisureshopdirect has all you need, Caravan roof vent . Here at Leisureshopdirect we have got a bit of a name for ourselves as one of the UK's leading suppliers of the bits and bobs, the fixtures and components, the caravan and motor-home gear and spares that tourers across the UK require to keep their vans in tip-top shape and ready for the road.

So now that your van is sitting in the drive way all ready to go or your tent is packed waiting at the door, it is time to decide where to go. Here we are going to focus on a few summer events that have tonnes of activities for kids and would be a great holiday destination this summer. From the 17-19th June the famous Beverly Folk Festival is taking place at Beverly Racecourse which is set in the historic Beverley Westwood, about one mile from the town centre and 10 miles from Hull. This really is the perfect spot to ensure you and your family have a terrific, unforgettable weekend. The heart of the festival most definitely focusses on traditional and new Folk music, but Americana, World Music, Blues, some Classic Rock amongst other music is featured. Other popular entertainment includes Comedy, Film, Poetry, Drama, Dance and Morris troupes, Literature and the Spoken Word. A rich cultural mix……….something for everyone in the family! On the Festival Village Green you will find open-air music and dance displays, plus a scrumptious range of yummy food and drink stalls and a fantastic array of craft stalls. There are also lots of activities for kids to keep them entertained. The Main Stage Marquee is full of life; with a capacity of 1,500 it hosts the main headliners as well as other performers. For a more intimate concert setting, the Big Top Marquee is new for 2016 and showcases some of the freshest young talent, old favourites and a truly eclectic mix to suit all tastes. If you are looking for fantastic local ales then the Wold Top Marquee is for you, but more importantly The Beverly Folk Festival has a Children’s’ Den. It is right in the heart of the Festival Village and is open from Friday tea time all through the weekend. There is a team full of energy, hosting free activities, including workshops: Singing, Drama, Drumming, Storytelling, Felt Making, World Record bunting making, a Willow den, Card making, Paint a Pot, Knitting and Face painting……………………………festivals are fun for children as well as adults. Surely this has to rate very highly when comparing fun places for kids! You and your family can live on-site for three days and experience all the fun of the festival. Just roll up with your tent or caravan, or in your campervan or motor home make Beverley Folk Festival your home away from home for the weekend, with a weekend ticket.

Camper Jam is another event with tonnes of fun family activities, set in Western Park, Shropshire. It is a family friendly, fun filled show with a chilled out, relaxed vibe. So much goes on over the whole weekend but highlights include live bands, a scrumptious, enticing food village, hundreds of trade stalls and most importantly children’s activities and a funfair. The kidz VW club is very popular and has activities for kids like pottery painting, face painting, colouring competition and a craft table where children can create cowboy hats, flags, pompoms and more! There will also be hula-hoops, bouncy animals, skipping ropes, juggling balls and apparently maybe a few "lasso" lessons! This year there are going to be kids' dance workshops involving favourite animal movie soundtracks, like Madagascar, The Lion King and The Jungle Book and kids will then perform to these tracks at the end of the day on Saturday! And if you have a family member that is a K9, then the Sunday Dog show will prove to be lots of fun for the whole family, especially if you all get to watch the dog fancy dress event!! Set in the beautiful Weston Park, Camper Jam has become one of the most anticipated and highly regarded VW Camper shows on the calendar. Don’t miss out………get your tickets asap!

So where else can you take the family that’s packed with fun activities for kids in August? Camper Calling state they are a ‘new, small, but perfectly formed family festival’. It takes place on 26-28th August and the setting is the beautiful Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. There is a fantastic line-up of live music, but also heaps of fun family activities. To have a family bonding experience join in ‘flying the nest’, where members of the audience have to sit in their own nests, enroll in ‘Hatchling College’, learning about native birds. This show has a great mix of music, drama, facts, fun and humour. There are lots of entertaining puppets, props and costumes and many opportunities for the kids to get hands on and interactive! Other fabulous shows and activities include ‘Professor Panic and his Family Circus’, Willow Crafts, Campfire Cookery and Campfire Tales. The adventure playground will give many hours of fun to children of all ages and there will be a wide selection of rides at the funfair. On the lakes at Ragley House activities such as rowing, paddle boarding, wild swimming and more will take place. There are different camping areas depending on your needs and the family camping area has a noise curfew of 10pm to ensure your little ones can get some sleep, but it is necessary to book in advance.
