British holidays 'are underestimated'

Posted by Greg Throughton

The benefits of taking a holiday in Britain, perhaps with Truma caravan water heaters, is often underestimated, according to an expert.

Jon Dale, publicity manager for the Camping and Caravanning Club, said that the UK has beautiful countryside and scenery to offer, as well as lower costs.

"It is certainly a lot cheaper than travelling abroad. You don't have any inconvenience of travel disruption which people have had over the last year or so," he explained.

However, he conceded that the British weather could be a sticking point for some people considering a caravan holiday in the UK.

"If they can overcome that then people will enjoy a family holiday in this country," Mr Dale added.

He said that caravanning is becoming more popular as the organisation recruited 60,000 new members in 2010 for the second consecutive year.

Recently, Paul Scanlon, director of my-caravan-insurance.co.uk, warned that storage arrangements and safety devices can significantly affect the size of insurance quotes.
