Why trust Alde products?!
Before we look into exactly how this hydronic campervan heating works from Alde, let’s just remind ourselves why Alde is such a trusted and reliable name in the leisure industry. Alde was founded in 1949, by an inspirational person, Alde Rask; his main aim was to design and develop the ultimate hydronic heating system for recreational vehicles. His determination and unyielding enthusiastic approach has continued through time and is what now makes the Alde team thrive, just as it was then for Alde Rask. Alde are driven by a passion to help campers fully enjoy the most precious moments in your life…….leisure time with family, friends and loved ones.

Nowadays, Alde are without doubt a world leading company which designs, develops and brings to the camping world, outstanding heating systems, mainly for mobile accommodation. Alde is importantly, still a privately owned company and the members pride themselves on maintaining clear, long-term emphasis on internationalisation and exceptional product development. Their head office, development team and production site is in Färlöv, Sweden, which is in the same place where it all started with Alde Rask. The commitment to functionality, reliability and performance endures to this day, so that this new Alde campervan heating system truly is the King of Comfort!

Sweden has a colder climate then many countries and has proved to be an excellent environment to develop and test hydronic heating systems. Tests can be carried out down to -35oC, enabling them to provide no-nonsense hydronic central heating systems, providing warmth and safe comfort all year round in mobile homes and caravans the world over. Their aim is to ensure luxury and comfort, even in the toughest conditions. So, what does the Alde campervan heating system bring to the cosiness of your home away from home?

How does the Alde hydronic Heating System work?
This Alde central heating system is a hydronic arrangement and it uses the same heating principle that is found in most homes nowadays. The boiler heats up the glycol fluid using a gas burner or 230V electric immersion elements. The hot glycol water then circulates around your campervan, through pipes and radiators by a pump. The convectors (or radiators) are placed on outer walls, so when they are heated, hot air rises through the radiators. This creates a warm buffer, helping prevent cold walls and condensation on the windows. As the hot air begins to cool, the density of it changes and the process begins again. This natural convection allows the whole interior of the campervan to be warmed to an even temperature.

What benefits does the Alde Hydronic Central Heating System offer?
As we have already mentioned, this campervan heating system offers true home from home luxury, by heating every part of your van, creating an encompassing warmth to ensure total comfort. It really enables you to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life, in comfort and most importantly, whatever the season. Another point worthy of note is that the fluid circulates quietly, which makes sure there is no intrusion into your relaxing time and it does not cause any sleep disturbance………..peace and quiet! It also boasts the ability to make hot water for a shower very fast- it takes only 10 mins to make a tank full of hot shower water. The Alde campervan heating system has a very low 12V battery consumption. This lower power usage enables you and your batteries to go further!
The pipes and radiators are mounted very discreetly, behind furniture and inobtrusive places. This gives you much more usable space in your important cupboards and lockers. Lastly, maybe the best bragging point, it can be linked to underfloor heating!! Imagine being happy, or even wanting to go round barefoot in your beloved home away from home! The Alde underfloor heating system is discussed in more depth below.

With the Alde campervan heating system kit, the convectors are placed on the outer walls, so when they are heated, hot air rises around them. This creates a warm buffer, helping prevent cold walls and condensation on windows. As the hot air begins to cool, the density changes, so it sinks and the process begins again.

What vans would the Alde campervan heating system work in?
The Alde campervan heating system works best in large van conversions, like the Ford Transit, VW Crafter, MAN TGE, Mercedes Sprinter or the Fiat Ducato models. It is not really suitable for small panel van conversions, as it requires a minimum number of radiators to operate and this minimum amount is too much kW output for the smaller vans. However, if you are considering upgrading or converting an old motorhome from blown air heating to modern hydronic heating then this Alde campervan heating kit would work well. It is worth mentioning though that this would need to be done by a competent person, as it would almost definitely involve removing furniture and other components.

So, what optimal extras are available for the Alde Hydronic Central Heating System?
If you fancy using the power of your campervan’s engine, then you may want to consider the engine heat exchanger. Alde’s engine heat exchanger will enable you to use the waste heat in your engine’s cooling system to help heat your living space. With this, all that’s needed is for you to set it to the best room temperature for you on the colour touchscreen control panel as you normally would and the central heating will circulate automatically when it is needed. This system can be reversed with a circulation pump, which needs to be installed in the engine cooling system, which enables your engine to be pre-heated. In turn, this enables you to save on fuel costs that are used up in cold starting your engine. When installing this device, it is always worth referring to your vehicle vendor or manufacturer to avoid any technical issues.
If you fancy an extra cosy, comfortable feel under foot in your home away from home, then checkout Alde’s underfloor heating kit. It is based on pipe coils, which are flexible and easy to lay in special heating plates. These aluminium plates are only 0.3mm thickness and are perforated so that glue can penetrate through. This allows for a much better adhesion to the surface floor material. This underheating floor kit is also an optional extra. To install underfloor heating in your van you will need the following items: the Alde Underfloor Spreader Plate, the Alde PE-X 12mm Floor Tubing For Underfloor Heating, the Alde Shut Off Cock and the Alde 16mm Rubber Drain T Wuth Plug and Clips.
