Camping and Caravanning Club to create temporary sites for 2012

Posted by Greg Throughton

Caravan refrigeration owners will be interested to hear that the Camping and Caravanning Club has joined forces with Gravesham Borough Council to offer two event campsites during the London Olympics in 2012.

Sites will be set up at Gravesend/Old Gravesendians Rugby Clubs offering 247 pitches and another at Culverstone Recreation Ground with 221 pitches available.

The temporary sites will include toilet and shower facilities and a clubhouse during their operation from July 20th 2012 to August 16th.

Both locations are close to Ebbsfleet International Station which operates a high-speed rail link to the Olympic Park and Olympic Stadium, with a journey taking around ten minutes.

Membership services director Paul Jones said: "We are expecting interest from countries such as Holland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, France and Germany as well as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA, so we are advising people to register their interest early."

David Turner, Gravesham Borough Council's cabinet member for leisure, believes that the area will offer foreign and domestic visitors a number of fantastic attractions and facilities.

A number of British Olympic hopefuls, including Tom Daley and Shanaze Reade, recently visited the sporting and media facilities currently being built for the 2012 event.
