Caravan accessories owners 'can cut carbon footprint through eco-driving'

Posted by Linda Davidson

Eco-friendly accessories and tools for your camper-van owners can help to cut both their costs and the impact they have on the environment by changing the way they drive, an expert has claimed.

Neeral Shah, development officer at Global Action Plan, said that this is cheaper than replacing an inefficient vehicle with a new caravan but can still help the owner reduce the eco-damage they are doing.

He said that the techniques come down to methods of avoiding energy usage and being more resourceful, which could further cut the cost of caravan holidays.

"It's about safer driving as well – eco-driving is also safer driving. It's better for your car because it [results in] less wear and tear when you're not revving your engine," he explained.

Mr Shah said that rising fuel prices are even pushing those caravan owners that are indifferent about the environment into adopting the techniques, as they can save a substantial amount of petrol or diesel.

Earlier this month, SEAT announced that it would be backing TyreSafe's winter tyre campaign in order to encourage those with Smev caravan hobs and cookers to maximise their road safety during the colder months.
