Caravan accessories: Green tourism 'rising in popularity'

Posted by Freddy Morton

Tourism boards throughout the UK are increasingly focusing on offering green trips to Comet caravan taps owners, it has been claimed.

Martin Couchman, deputy chief executive of the British Hospitality Association, has highlighted this type of break's attraction to Brits.

He said that many tourism boards are playing a key role in this trend and put sustainability at the centre of their priorities.

Mr Couchman also pointed to the role that soft regulations are playing in changing the industry's attitudes towards this type of break.

Using food waste as an example, he said that close work with the Waste and Resources Action Programme has suggested a number of measures that can be used to cut down on the amount of resources required.

A recent survey published by Travel Weekly found that 58 per cent of holidaymakers are concerned over sustainability, with half admitting they would be willing to pay a higher premium to make their trip more responsible.
