Caravan refrigeration owners warned of pothole dangers

Posted by Freddy Morton

Caravan refrigeration owners need to be wary of potholes on the UK's roads, with around a third having damaged their vehicles by driving over one in the past.

Research from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) revealed that a further 16 per cent have been involved in or have seen an accident caused by hitting a pothole.

Other issues which need to be looked at by councils included keeping foliage and grass cut back to ensure that visibility is good, while surface dressing worn out roads was also important.

Neil Greig, director of policy and research at the IAM, said: "Eighty per cent of those polled thought that local councils should work more closely together to increase efficiency, and with no loosening of the public purse strings in sight it will take partnerships to ensure the backlog in road maintenance does not continue to stack up."

Recently, the Aberdeen Evening Express reported that city council bosses have said they will not repair potholes around Hazlehead, close to a number of the city's favourite parks, as it has no money in the budget for un-adopted passages.
